ENABLE ME TIMBERS: OCTOBER 2023

YO HO HO EVERYONE! This is an ATP/EMP post where players can make cast requests for people to app into, or make ads for characters they are considering bringing into the game. It works like any other ATP/EMP, but we do have a few things to note down:

» Invitations are required to reserve and apply! But you can go ahead and post to the ATP/EMP post with a note you need an invite. You can either rely on a current player for help, or you can directly request an invite from the mods.

» We have a 50 player cap, but since this is only our second round and allow the public to request for an invite, we have temporarily upped it to 65 to give more breathing room.

» Players can only app 2 characters at once with a max limit of 3 in game. But since this is an ATP/EMP, feel free to put more if you're having trouble deciding!

» Our Game Info should cover everything you need, from basic premise summary to the nitty gritty details of the game mechanics. If you have any questions, post them there.

» Just want to make it clear that this is not a claims page. While we give priority to whoever is on the Reserve list, we do allow app challenges, and there is no rule against multiple players TDMing the same character. Of course we don't want there to be too much conflict, so everyone please be polite no matter who it is.

» TDM is Friday, October 13th. This TDM will double as our Halloween event, but we will include a traditional "starter prompt" for TDM specific characters. Everything will be carried over as canon!

» Reservations open Wednesday, October 25th.

» Applications open Wednesday, November1st.

Preferred Armada: I'm leaning towards Paladins, but Corsairs for her is extremely tempting since I can see her preferring something less structured like... a company... you may say LOL

Most of Aerith's life has been spent beneath some kind of steel ceiling; from captivity in a laboratory to the oppressive expanse of the plate hanging over the Midgar slums, she's never really seen the endless blue sky. You wouldn't guess it after meeting her, though! Aerith is vivacious, spunky, and street-smart, having grown up in the slums. She's a nature-loving free spirit with a rebellious streak that she eagerly indulges in. Her unique experiences have lead her to have strong personal morals that she's unwilling to compromise with, and Aerith always chooses to do right by her and the people she cares about, even at the cost of her own safety. Despite this, she's got a biting sense of humor— she's also not afraid to remind you that she doesn't need to be coddled.

In canon, she makes a living selling flowers she grows herself; some are tended to in a garden at her home, others are from a flowerbed in an abandoned church. Holiness is something of a theme with her, though you may get the impression it's entirely foisted on her. Regardless, Aerith is the party healer who is not afraid to use her magical scepter like a baseball bat. Her close ties to healing, religion, and magic are born from her heritage as the last remaining Cetra in Gaia— she's part magical alien, which makes her of keen interest to a specific power enterprise back home.

In Escordvi, Aerith would be entirely independent for the first time in her life! She'd be able to see the blue sky for real! After the immediate shock, she'd probably struggle getting her sea legs, but as a headstrong nuisance, Aerith would likely get herself in everyone's business anyway. I'd love for other people to affect her and cause her to grow into herself; being sheltered by Shinra all her life in different ways has meant that while she's wildly capable and independent, there's still a lot out in the world she hasn't gotten to do. I'd also love for her to eventually start selling flowers she grows on her own again— who wants to help make a new flowercart...?

Midadol, or Mid if you ask her for her preference, is an energetic, enthusiastic and cheery teenager who just so happens to be Cid's adoptive daughter. Just as gifted when it comes to creating, Mid is a student of engineering and is forward thinking in a creative way. She's not interested in her creations being used for war, instead wanting them to improve the lives of others without magic. A little bit of a dreamer, shes not about to let practicalities get in her way, very content to barrel through to see her tasks and dreams to fruition.

Shes one of those energetic social butterflies I'm so prone to playing, so good luck god speed to anyone trying to keep up with her.

In other words, she is going to be a little menace and everyone should watch out. Laena has been relentlessly after my ass so here I am with a little blonde goblin ready to party.

FINAL FANTASY XVI

Can I interest you in apping a Final Fantasy XVI with the best boy? Yes? Fantastic! Because boy, do I have news for you. The cast is full of dramatics and their drama, and who wouldn't want to get in on some of that action? We've got ship stealing, love, betrayal, how the hell do phones work, Dion's permanent headache (someone save this man from the rest of them), fighting because we're bored, TORGAL, and bets on when Clive and Jill will finally hold hands in public. And some good old Eikonic action. It is very serious all the time.

Currently have: Barnabas, Benedikta, Cid, Clive, Jill, Joshua (all Corsairs), and Dion on the Paladin side.
Looking for: Anyone! Everyone! More specifically, we'd love to see Gav, Mid, Jote, Byron, Hugo (do any even exist on dwrp?), Sleipnir, anyone from the hideaway crew...

MONKEY D. LUFFY

ONE PIECE (LIVE ACTION)

Preferred Armada: Corsair. It would be criminal to not have the self-proclaimed soon to be King of the pirates as a corsair.

Luffy is a young pirate captain who has the energy of a positive, optimistic, dream chasing feral gremlin. Ever since he was a child he knew he wanted to be a pirate, would hang out with pirates and never wavered in that. He's on his quest to get to the Grand Line in order to find the One Piece, a treasure that will help him become King of the Pirates. He's enthusiastic about everything, will always encourage people to chase their dreams and thinks being a pirate is the best thing in the world. On paper he's a terrible pirate if the standard definition is anything to go by, but don't tell him that.

His own world is full of pirates, so the concept of ships and looking for treasure isn't something new. Luffy may be a little put out by the fact his crew and friends aren't here but there's a lot going on so he'll be able to manage. Luffy is capable of looking after himself, somehow managing to get through things by sheer fluke or dumb luck. He's also decent at fighting due to his unique physiology where he's made out of rubber thanks to him eating a devil fruit. The downside is salt water renders him immobile and weak, not great when out on the ocean.

Luffy is the kind to be urging everyone on to do their best, to find their treasures, and will probably be up in a lot of people's business too. But he means well and will fight to the death for anyone who is considered good by him. Oh also has a thing for meat, so if he does arrive a warning will need to go out letting the world know of an approaching famine on legs.

Luffy! I have not seen or watched the animanga, but I loved the live action and am excited to see him. He's a great choice for the game, and please harass all of my girls - even if two of them will be on the Paladin side.

My Corsair is... well, she's not easy to get along with, but I want this to happen anyway.

Once upon a time, a land had a great shadow of death cast over it. Everyone's lives were touched by grief and loss, and hope only existed in fleeting moments. Then a brave young woman with a touch of naivete, a quirky athlete way out of his depth, a jaded yet cool dude on a mission, and the people who loved the young woman the most banded together to change all that.

Two years later, the world was much better. But people are still people, dealing with the trials and tribulations of a brand new day. There are mysteries to solve, there's life to celebrate, and...well, the old wounds still linger. But they'll figure it out!

The current cast is just Rikku and she's trying her best with the Corsairs! Most of her old allies would probably make better Paladins, so that could be a fun conflict...basically she just misses teasing the people she loves.

GRANBLUE FANTASY

The giant mobage game that's about to "re-release" it's fighting game and an upcoming RPG, Re:Link—

It's only Eustace right now as a Corsair, but I would love to see anyone else from the game, especially Society members: Ilsa, Beatrix, Zeta, Vaseraga, Cassius, Isaac. Gran or Djeeta would also be fun (I think we can manage both given canon alternate universes??), and Lyria would be adorable as well! Vyrn, too. But as much as I'm hard pitching for fellow Society members, really anyone to play off cross-game interactions would be fun!

This setting would be really fun for GBF characters since it's similar to their world—just with actual water instead of ships in the air. All the fun grand adventuring, getting into trouble, dealing with trouble— Just a lot of opportunities especially for cross-cr!

Yuffie is a young ninja who enjoys her materia a little too much. She will be coming in not knowing the rest of her cast yet, except for Zack - that one guy whom she trolled. Only recognize Tifa as being part of the splinter Avalanche cell. Grew up in a war-torn Wutai, doesn't like to talk about her dad, fresh off Sonon's death and the fall of Plate 7. Seeking out treasure is something she likes to do, so yes, she will be signing up for that as fast as possible.

In Escordvi, I'm planning on having her bring in one of the very first chocobos! Time to introduce them to the world and all its people. She is also bringing in Ramuh summon materia, so she can harass an old man (Lae enabled me). Also, some other materia that should be fun to play with and switch around with the rest of the cast, please throw her around with Ninja Cannonball. Please feel free to play with OG game and Kingdom Hearts knowledge about Yuffie, I love confusion and shenanigans.

Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate's life for me?

Looking for Kingdom Hearts pals to join Roxas in the Not!Caribbean! All the benefits of being a pirate, none of the clunky sailing mechanics or annoying races against Luxord (unless you like that sort of thing).

It's just Roxas right now, hanging out as a Paladin, and doing such things as learning to swim and not getting seasick. I'd love to see Twilight Town friends, but honestly, everyone would be more than welcome.

Tianyou Zhao

Yakuza/Like a Dragon

Zhao grew up in a Chinese mafia known at the Liumang and has lived in a section of Yokohama called Ijincho his whole life. He's one of those annoyingly gifted people that excels in anything he tries...only if it interests him. Unfortunately being a leader did not interest him, but this wasn't a position he could really refuse. So he had to subsume his lighter, more caring personality into a merciless and cold blooded persona in order to get respect.

Due to running into protagonist Ichiban Kasuga's shenanigans and charm, Zhao has now joined his crew. Free to do whatever he wants, he becomes the party cook. Zhao's manner is very breezy and easy going, always ready with an f-bomb or a sarcastic quip. His former life wasn't all for show as he's very skilled in several kinds of kung fu, weapons and drunken fist.

With no Ichiban making him behave, Zhao would very much be a pirate, killing those who need it and stealing gold because why the fuck wouldn't you? He could potentially be the captain of his own ship in time, but given he doesn't know shit about sailing, he'll gladly be a fighter and cook for someone else.

Also as a side note, the entire series is being rebranded in the West. The game he stars in is called Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which is called Like a Dragon 7 in Japan. With the rebranding, the sequel is called Like a Dragon: 8 Infinite Wealth. A little confusing, but hopefully it makes sense.

Bring me Nimona boys! It doesn't matter if they're movie-based or comic-based, I live for chaotic shenanigans. Ballister and Ambrosia are dating in the movie! But Nimona has unfinished business with Ballister that I'd love to explore, and get her to know Ambrosia outside of being on the other end of his sword. They'd fit in very well with the Paladins, working to protect people! Or toss Ballister on the Corsairs for fun problems, be the voice of reason for those people! Or to be their "evil scientist". :3

That said, I would accept anyone from Nimona - Thoddeus Sureblade, Meredith Blitzmeyer... or anyone else from the comic. I swear I'm going to read it all someday soon.

Just think, you are an hour and 40 minutes away from knowing all you need to know about the movie versions of the other two main characters! You could join Nimona "And tonight's the night we knight the knights!"

LOL, no. Nappa's a Saiyan warrior, a race of monkey-tailed raiders and space pirates who worked for an intergalactic warlord/real estate mogul until he blew most of them up with their home world. Nappa was only one of a handful of survivors, due to being off-planet at the time with the young Saiyan prince, Vegeta IV (also known as Getes). They continued to work for their boss due to be fed a lie that it was a meteor that destroyed Planet Vegeta (not the prince or his dead father) rather than Frieza's absolutely enormous energy balls. When one of their incredibly weak fellow Saiyan survivors, Raditz, got murked on an otherwise insignificant planet called Earth, his open comms revealed to Vegeta and Nappa that immortality-granting magical artifacts called the Dragonballs existed on Earth, and seeing an opportunityto get one over on Frieza, they set out in their pods to destroy Earth and get their wish, after a year-long journey.

Nappa is 100% going to be a Corsair and can easily act as muscle for crews that enjoy a little plundering and pillaging; that's essentially what Frieza was signing his paychecks for, after all. Saiyans are immensely strong warriors who get stronger with defeats, and Nappa was already a veteran when Vegeta-the planet-got destroyed. I'm gonna have to workshop him to make him more balanced (Great Ape is gonna need some work if I can keep it at all) but im hoping i can at least introduce Saibamen, genetically engineered bio-organisms that serve as footsoldiers and meme-fodder, and the iconic but unreliable power level-detecting Scouters. So all that's left to say is:

Ren is a teenager who, like many jrpg teenagers, got caught up in some wild circumstances including cool powers, leading a vigilante thief group, and going inside people's distorted hearts to steal their desires and brainwash them in a way to make them feel horribly guilty for all the awful stuff they've done and turn themselves in.

Neat!

On the outside he's pretty plain in both looks and demeanor, and while a lot of it is natural a lot of it is also put on to avoid drawing attention to himself. Underneath it, he's an often obnoxious, often arrogant, flashy, dramatic guy who loves showing off and being good at things. He likes to think he's cool, and unfortunately every now and then he's right; but he also karmically has plenty of dweeby moments to balance it out. While he has his asshole moments, he's more or less a kind person who is always willing to help anyone who needs it, likely because he himself has experience needing help and not getting it-- but he also enjoys messing with people and is absolutely someone who will do almost anything for The Bit, so be warned.

He'd be best as a Corsair because 1. this guy would love to be a pirate SO MUCH, he was already so into being a gentleman thief, 2. he has a strong sense of justice but it's his own justice. The justice system in his own world failed him specifically and many of the people he cares about too much for him to put trust in an organization or what society says is moral or just and prefers to trust his own ideas.

Aaaand I'm just very excited for the possibilities of him living a pirate's life!!

Reiner Braun

Reiner Braun is a hot mess.

A brief history (click to expand).

As a child, Reiner was fanatically loyal to his country, becoming a child soldier when he was ~6 years old. He quartered his lifespan to give his family a better life, sacrificing his future for their happiness and wellbeing. By the time he was 13, he had (directly or indirectly) killed hundreds of thousands of people in his country's name.

As a teenager, Reiner spent years undercover, developing genuine bonds with the same people he was sent to kill. He became a "big brother" figure to his new comrades, with whom he developed profound friendships. Bit by bit, Reiner lost pieces of himself. His loyalty to his homeland was directly at odds with the love he felt for his new friends. Weighed down by his guilt, Reiner's sanity eventually shattered; he couldn't cope with what he had done, becoming delusional and desperate for escape.

As an adult, Reiner's guilt and grief (for lost comrades) have all but broken him. Trapped by circumstances beyond his control, he continues to live primarily for others. He has been forgiven by some of those he wronged the most; however, he doesn't believe he deserves such forgiveness, nor does he know what to do with it. He is on a path to redemption that he doesn't believe truly has an end.

(TL;DR: Child soldier (x2) turned war criminal turned war hero.)

He is an intensely protective, compassionate, and loyal individual whose divided loyalties have torn him apart. He bonds easily/quickly with others, has "big brother" energy, and will literally stage a military invasion to rescue children he cares about. (Gotta save the little ones!) He is also intensely depressed, in desperate need of rest, and has never really tasted freedom before. What better way to discover freedom and joy than by sailing the open seas?

Also, he can turn into a 15 meter tall giant called the Armored Titan. It will be completely useless on a boat. Time to learn magic!

Izuku is the cute hero boy of a shounen anime about being a hero. He's a determined and reckless boy who will go to great lengths to help and save people even if it costs himself a bunch of broken bones. He's also kindhearted, strong-willed and intelligent. He can be soft, very nervous, a bit shy and prone to muttering. But under it all is a boy who will literally go feral to do the right thing.

There's no question he would fit in with the Paladins the most! He would be into protecting others, upholding laws and discovering and researching new things! Izuku is also naturally talented at analysis and note-taking so he's seriously equipped to be a researcher! And since he's a giant nerd and also dummy strong he would be a great addition to any Paladin ship who needs brains and brawn.

Also I have a dream of him learning potion making or something like alchemy.

The star has been saved and a new era has begun. We've been in a little bit of a content lull ( until today but you know ) so why not keep your FFXIV love rolling by joining the game? Gale is a brilliant wizarding prodigy whose talents were so remarkable that in his youth, he attracted the attention of the goddess Mystra, who became his patron, tutor, and eventually lover. In a misguided attempt to prove his love and devotion and further his ever-burning desire to become the greatest and most learned wizard Faerun has ever known, he made a series of missteps in an attempt to return a missing part of Mystra to herself, and as a result, wound up getting his hands on some especially dangerous magic that absolutely shouldn't be in the possession of anyone. The architect of his own destruction, his actions caused Mystra to cast him out and he lost the greatest of his powers, and now walks around as a literal ticking time-bomb with a magical artifact buried deep in his chest with enough power to destroy the whole of Faerun, if things go especially poorly.

It is a Lot. He did, in fact, ruin everything with his hubris.

He considers himself a wizard on the road to redemption, and despite openly admitting that he is the villain of his own tragic tale, he himself is something of a do-gooder with a keen interest in aiding others and learning all the world has to offer. He doesn't know if it's possible to know everything about everything, but damn it, he's going to try. He's a congenial sort with a knack for puns, loves wine, occasionally writes poetry, and loves his personally curated library. He also sometimes eats magical items (although he has given that up at this point) and has a magical cat who is awesome.

Rin is a elf (ori in her world) who works for the black market, Crimson. Before the Ori Hunt, she worked as an illegal gun trader and drug supplier for fellow street urchins and the latter, nobility. She's always been a street urchin of sorts, and has always been morally gray when it comes to that sort of thing. She is a good person though, just with a bit of skewed morals.

After Demetria Xydis starts the great Ori hunt, Crimson shifts from the black market trade to the resistance. Rin becomes a soldier for the resistance, and she's used for several missions that include assassination plots and espionage. She's surprisingly good at her job, because Rin has this sort of innocence about her that she uses to her advantage. People don't expect her to have a brain because her head is in the clouds.

I have no idea what I want her to do in Escordvi quite yet! But if you guys have ideas for me or want her anywhere if I get into the game, I would LOVE to hear some ideas. She's down to clown.

MORE SERIOUSLY THO- Alphen is sweet, well-meaning, and dumb as a sack of bricks except for swordfighting strategy and things like that. Why did we put him in charge, again??? He's also 300 years old, a walking Arise spoiler, and I'm pulling him from post-game for once to see how that plays out.

Aside from being pretty friendly and weirdly open about his insanely strange past, he's very justice-minded and has a lot of weird powers that canon never explains fully, but one of them involves somewhat setting himself on fire. I'm not totally convinced I'll have time for another game, but he's definitely coming to the tdm!

Doctor of the Strawhat Pirates... Luffy describes him as a "cool transforming reindeer monster" which isn't.... too far from the truth. Chopper is altogether pretty shy and awkward when it comes to compliments and meeting new people. He's not exactly a fighter either, but he'll do what's needed to protect his friends and those who need it.

With that said, despite him running away from danger, he does consider himself a pirate!! He does like the idea of adventure, but his true passion is medicine and studying that. The two people who raised him inspired him to do so.

He is a reindeer who ate a fruit that gave him the powers to transform and walk on two legs/talk. Thanks to that, he was shunned by people and is especially sensitive to being called a monster.

Again, I only know LA One Piece, but I wholeheartedly agree that we have a lack of Strawhat Pirates around. Either way, I have people that I would throw his way. One being a shape-shifter who would love more non-humans around. She also was called a monster and is sensitive to it, so I feel they'd get along great.

RORONOA ZORO

Swordsman and "second" of the Straw Hat Pirates, age 21. Loves booze and fighting, hates chocolate. Has almost died at least three times. Directionally challenged, but surprisingly competent when it matters. Unlike half his crew, Zoro has no Devil Fruit powers, he's just insanely stupidly strong - yeah yeah he's got good haki but that's not a...but it could...oof yeah that'll have to be described later. It's in his journal, I have Too Much Info.

His goal in life is to become the world's strongest swordsman, and he's well on his way. I'd be taking him from post-Wano arc so spoilers would abound for anyone not caught up. He's sort of stoic but a lot friendlier than most of my One Pieces, will fight everyone and anyone for shits and giggles, and will drink the entire world dry if you let him. Fiercely loyal to his crew, so it would be wild to see what happens to a new and different crew that gets stuck with him.

(tossing him out first though I also can/will play Sanji, Trafalgar Law, and maybe Bartolomeo if anyone would prefer a pervert cook, a surly doctor, or a complete asshole with a fanboy complex)

oh my god alphen and zoro is cr i desperately need in my life. alphen is another strong swordsman who just wants to fight people for fun because he wants to be strong and make friends with strong people. he also tends to get really lost when leading people off-trail, which would probably be hilarious when combined with zoro

Ryotaro Dojima

Ryotaro Dojima is a pragmatic, practical, salt of the earth small town detective who is so done with supernatural shenanigans in his life.

So obviously, throwing him into adventure on the high seas is a perfect idea for him, right? Especially after just dealing with that serial murder case!

He's the uncle and temporary guardian of the Protagonist of Persona 4 (Golden), looking after him for the year the teen is in the small town of Inaba. Gruff, no nonsense, dedicated to his job to the point of being a workaholic at times, Dojima tries to balance his work life to being a single father to his young daughter, Nanako. There was some real struggles in the family while Protag-kun was staying in Inaba, but thanks to the young man's efforts, Dojima faced his issues and is now trying his hardest to be a good dad to his kid.

Basically he's a sort of rough around the edges but actually caring dude who will grouse at you to look after yourself more, damn it. He's good at awkward dading at younger folks despite not knowing what he's doing most of the time.

He also doesn't believe or get supernatural stuff. Surely no one would want to bug him with that sorta thing, riiiight?

Do you like Pokémon? Do you play anyone from the latest installment or any of the others? Boy, would weAND ME love to see any of your poképeople here! So much to explore and discover in a world covered by ocean and islands to find, it's honestly a wonderful environment to get so much adventure packed into.

I have Professor Turo of Violet here and have already been having a ball with the guy- as said already I would love other characters from Violet, Scarlet, and anyone from the other installments of this wonderful world filled with pokémon. Be happy have you here and see what sort of shenanigans can be gotten up to.

Welcome to the world of pirates, perfect for those protags who live in darker shades of Tales games, or be a Paladin for those who are more order aligned. Want Yuri as a Corsair and Flynn as a Paladin? Done. Want to make them switch places? It's possible. You could even potentially have a very full cast within the Tales of Series. We're having a blast in this game. Velvet and Eizen are going to steal a ship, Sorey is living in history heaven. You, too, could be part of the fun! Watch them get into trouble, or help them stay out of it!

Did someone request a foul-mouthed, tsundere jackass? The answer is yes. Mish did. Katsuki is a grouchy brat who actually cares a whole lot despite what his attitude suggests. He is loud, abrasive and sometimes shows he cares in weird ways. Like kicking someone out of harm's way. Or training someone with no mercy.

No doubt first impressions would lead one to believe he isn't a fit for Paladins, but rest assured he has a heroic heart and wants nothing more than to be a hero. He would be a boon to their side. He's strong, smart and brave. But he's not the easiest in the world to get along with sometimes and it can take time for his better qualities to shine through.
