QUICK UPDATES
YO HO HO!! What a silly month April was. Hopefully everyone who turned into a fish or had other weird personality or body possession issues have turned back to normal? Looks like some of the silliness will continue as strange things have flooded the MANTA board requests, but some other big things are happening… Like a certain ancient city rising from the depths!?
We have updated the Calendar for important dates, but here is a quick heads up on what to expect this month:
The Manta Board has been posted with new and updated quests! It may look a little… Strange, but it's totally fine.
Our Rewards page has been updated with a few new things for the month! Darin has some special products now listed on the page!

EXTRA NOTES
Here is a recap of a few things that occurred last month.
» Back to normal. A cure was developed so all strange speech effects should be gone! Strangely, whatever caused it is still unknown and the amount of people becoming afflicted have also diminished in number.
» The Grand Sipsa, the fish, and the mysterious island have now disappeared to who knows where. Leaving in a chorus of giggles and rainbows, all the little fish will fly back up to the Grand Sipsa above, and everyone who was on the island will be forcibly sent back. Those whose souls had been swapped with a fish at this time will also be freed, though they might feel lingering effects. It truly was a mysterious event, and some still question if it was real or not. Will this mysterious leviathan appear again one day…? What is its true nature…? Could, as Riddle thinks, have some sort of "curse" to distort reality and be responsible for the Shiver Me Tinders glitch last month?? What a fearsome being if so—
» Solare and Lunare islands have calmed at least, in large part due to everyone helping the islands. The Lunatenders in particular are grateful to those who helped against the poachers and danced with them. A certain incident caused by Emet-Selch has left a lot of damage, but also allowed the two islands to settle their differences. Reconstruction efforts will be underway. The strange sun and moon will remain on their islands, but now instead of pure perpetual night or day, the islands get to experience twilight. Although fog will cover the islands and make them difficult to reach every so often, that same fog will also lift at random times, allowing visitors to return to the islands. Perhaps over time, permanent trade and continued communication will help the islands acclimate to the current world. Hopefully neither the sun nor the moon will float off somewhere…
» Weather will have stabilized. Although fragments will still exist somewhere out in the world, they are not as widespread and as noticeable.
» Music boxes. The last of the music boxes have been found (or on their way to be) and now it is a matter of testing the theory of whether they will lead to other bell towers. Preparations and research still needs to be done, but those who are still holding onto the music boxes will be informed once there is an update. Which means while it won't be a formal expedition, starting in June we'll issue out specialized quests to those who first found the music boxes. We plan to have a loose deadline so that while we'll give out the quests in June, players will have the whole summer at least to work on it as we are not in a particular rush for this plotline. Players can opt out if necessary! If you do, please let us know so we can open up a sign-up for a pair to take over.
» The girl in Pandora's Tower remains as she is. No cure or solution has been found yet and her need for monster meat continues.
» Lighthouse Updates. The missing villagers are still being tracked, but more clues have been uncovered; the red seaweed attached to their boats led one team through a denser sargasso sea, where a group of aggressive lionfish mer were found to be lurking in it. They might have answers if they can be convinced to talk, but something’s...off. Occasionally they’ll freeze in place, then abandon what they were doing to all swim off in a certain direction. Perhaps the villagers went that way, as well.
Back at the village, the remaining damaged fishing vessel was found to be trapped with a sealing circle—the kind usually meant to contain magical entities and demons.
Updates are being collected here, and a new planning post will go up later!
» Darin has successfully refined the Magnetecorum ore into a functioning, emotionally enhanced alloy! Dubbing the new creation "Passionite" he has begun selling custom wares to those interested. These wares will be available in the market for all riftfarers to purchase!
» Emet-Selch had a bit of a bad day when he was possessed by the Moonshadow that caused some destruction on the twin islands. However, thanks to the help of many he was subdued and has returned to normal. His punishment includes disabled magic for the punishment period, mining Lunare's nose, and no longer captain of The Raiders of the Lost Arts.
» Faulkner and Anders continued to try and work with the villagers and scholars for Nilatast in hopes of helping to decipher the language and learn more about what happened. Perhaps the fruits of their labor will pay off!

EVENT FORMAT FEEDBACK
Last month we tried something different with the event format by making it more like the MANTA Board instead of the usual list of prompts we do. We'd like to hear from players on what they think about it! Was it easier to parse the event? Did it limit content more? Did it strike a balance between ease of reading and amount of content?
Any thoughts at all would be appreciated! Feel free to leave a comment on this post with your feedback, on the plurk, or even in the discord!

STRANGE MANTA BOARD
As you may notice, the MANTA Board is looking a bit off this month. A strange race of creatures called the Namazu have overrun the MANTA headquarters and flooded it with these strange requests, all in the name of the "Big One," some fish god they believe is coming. Apparently, it was not the Grand Sipsa.
While the Namazu themselves post the quests a bit…vague, that is also to leave it open for players to handle the quests in whatever way is most fun for them! We have included some additional notes where possible to give ideas or to give some information to help with the quests.

NILATAST RISING
After all the hard work in trying to restore the ancient city Nilatast that has been hidden in the deepest depths of the ocean, word has arrived that the systems that operated the city have been restored. Not long after, the main three leviathans swim out to where the expedition down to the site was first staged last year, near the island of Port Hope. The island has seen a lot of growth from the temporarily displaced Elah natives that had moved and settled onto it as it became a research hub for the city. Liansa, the giant snail leviathan that has remained and aided throughout it all, remains in the depths to watch over those who are in the city.
Once given the signal, the switches are flipped, the city shudders, and it finally ascends. With the bubble shield over the city, it slowly pushes upward like a bubble. At first the black tar-like sludge clings to its bottom as if trying to drag it back down. Lights flicker as power surges off and on, and the engineers make quick corrections as needed, but with a burst of hot bubbles from Liansa, the miasma finally loosens its hold and the city is finally able to continue upwards.
When it finally breaks the surface and emerges, cheers erupt. The storm clouds that have hung heavy in this area for centuries begin to part, revealing a blue sky. Although decay and erosion have hit the city hard, the white stone and pearl that peeks from behind the grime and sludge that still remains shines brilliantly in the sun that now appears behind the clouds. The bubble shield reflects that same sunlight before it shimmers and disperses once it's deactivated. For the first time in so long, the city takes its first breath.
Plans to try and restore the city further will be underway, but it will take some time. Instead, the excitement over the city's "revival" carries over into the festival preparations that have been ongoing since last month. Now it seems even more fitting for the festival to be located close to such an important place for Enysos as the festivities move to Port Hope.
Thanks to everyone's efforts in finding and reaching out to various underwater villages, it looks like many will be attending!
A mini event log will be posted, and will have a similar "MANTA Board" style like last month's event.
However, while things are all on the up and up, something else is happening deep under water, completely unknown by those on top.

DARK WATER
It doesn't happen immediately, but over the course of the next few days and weeks, a black miasma appears through the deep waters. It crawls over the ocean floor, spreading further and further out…and yet it does not harm any of the villages or sea life that exist within the depths, and most won't even notice due to how dark it already is, only leaving cold chill to those who happen to brush against it. If anything the miasma seems to avoid everything until it creeps closer towards the surface and nearby islands. It is here that it becomes more visible like a black algae bloom, and while creatures instinctively avoid it, again those who do happen to touch it will not be harmed. Instead they will become more hostile and aggressive towards land dwellers, and this is where trouble comes.
Reports of increased attacks on ships start to arrive, especially by orcas who seem angrier than usual. Sightings of "balls of black tar" on shorelines also come, and they are extremely sticky, latching onto people, humans and beastfolk alike. The individual will now become more hostile and attack others, particularly fishermen and hunters of the sea, but will also be strangely devoted and defensive of marine life. Referred to as "dark water," the miasma will also chase away marine life, especially fish, which will affect the livelihoods of these islands if not stopped.
The purification methods used on the miasma in Nilatast seem to be just as effective on the miasma now spreading to the surface, so there is at least an effective means to deal with this. Postings on the MANTA board will feature the dark water and various effects, including from the Namazu. For a while the origins of everything will be a mystery.
However, something else will appear that will be much harder to handle.
A giant catfish so large it could crush an island will appear during the festival, disrupting everything. Perhaps the Namazu who were making the MANTA board posts were onto something, if slightly off (that's definitely not a fish god worth worshipping!!). The origins of the catfish is a mystery, but it seems to be less a living creature and more of an embodiment of the miasma that teems with rage—and hunger.
The catfish will be featured on the mini festival event log, but will be timed to be near the end or at least several days into the festival to allow time for folks to have fun before "boss fight." It will also be driven away to another location for the real fighting before too much damage is caused at Port Hope, but giving some "rescue" opportunities for those who aren't so keen on fighting a giant catfish that may or may not suck ships and people into its mouth whole— Expect the fight to be a bit unorthodox.

SIGN-UP: HEALING ENYSOS
There is still more to be done with Enysos. For June, a small group can take part in a significant effort to heal Enysos as well as discover the source of the miasma and where the catfish originated. Just like previous expedition groups, this will be isolated with nebulous timing so that players can work around it with any other plans they may have. This expedition is also going to be less investigative and instead have more action-oriented goals to be performed by characters. The content and themes will be a bit on the heavier side, especially touching on grief and death, but it's also a healing process.
This will be the last expedition for Enysos for a while as this will produce significant results and progression of this storyline.
If interested, sign up here.
