MANTA BOARD: MAY 2026

The MANTA Board is posted every month, but the quests are on a "2 month cycle." This means quests can last for two months with possible updates or new additions in the second month before it completely refreshes for the next cycle. Players can do older quests so long as they do not have some kind of resolution or time limit on them.

Quests are separated into five categories and all have flat point values: General (4pts), Corsair (4pts), Paladin (4pts), Bounties (6pts), and Specials (12pts). Crew quests are listed under "Specials" and are worth the same amount of points (12pts). Although these quests are intended for established crews, non-members are allowed to assist if the crew invites them. However, non-members would only receive 6pts. Similarly, characters helping opposing armada quests will only be rewarded 2pts for participation unless specified otherwise. Special quests won't always be available so it may appear blank at times. These can range from group quests such as for special ship upgrades or island related quests, or they could be special event quests. All quest points can be used for the Rewards Shop.

If you wish to submit a quest, comment in the appropriate field during Activity Check with the quest written and we'll add it to the next month! Crews are also still allowed to make their own quests without our approval, but if uncertain players can comment here about them.

The Great Bucket List

Reward: A bucket?

I have long dreamt of accomplishing many things…yet I have done none. Thus, I have created a list! The first task: find my bucket, which, yes, I have misplaced.

[MANTA: We are receiving other requests as a side effect of this posting! Buckets going missing, rejected buckets rolling everywhere in the streets, this guy is not giving any information on what his bucket looks like so now people are trying to bribe with new ones! It's bucket mania now!!]

Rolling With Damacy

Reward: A tiny bell.

The Big One is displeased … Yes yes. The Big One is creating strange balls of black tar all over the beach shores and turning the water black. And the balls are so sticky! They are sticking to people! If they stick to people it makes people very, very angry… Yes. You have to do something to calm The Big One down so no more tar balls appear! Maybe feed the balls some silver coins or try to sing to them! Maybe do a dance near the tar balls to cheer them up! Help! Yes! Do something!

Flay-O-Fish

Reward: A fish?

You must conduct a covert operation! Your target: a fish who suspects nothing. Approach a fish with utmost stealth and observe its fishiness… And if you find something fishy, capture it! Surely, if you capture all the fishy imposters for me, it will appease The Big One. The fish are very grumpy...

[Note: You're just going fishing, but remember that fish may be more hostile due to the dark water effects!]

Cosmo Conservatory Adoption Event

Reward: Free snacks, and up to six people get a pup.

Oh! Oh! Gather, gather! Important announcement, yes yes! A most wondrous happening has occurred at the Cosmo Conservatory!

Due to a heavily pregnant Pengi being dropped off anonymously at the Cosmo Conservatory sanctuary a few months ago, there are six(6) Pengi pups up for adoption. People are encouraged to come by and play with them, and even meet the healed and now three-legged mama for play - but only the pups are lined up to be taken. Pengi are usually kept on fishing boats, as they will help herd fish into nets and keep other creatures away which prevents unwanted tangling; excellent swimmers due to that tail and long body. Friendly and playful.

Contact either Professor Turo or Red XIII for details on adoption. They know things! Important things! Adoption things!

A Magical Mer May

Reward: A spell cast on you that turns you into a merfolk and lasts a whole twenty-four hours.

I found a flashy wand. A magical magic wand. It goes zoom zoom zap when I point and zap it. If I hit anything with it, they turn into something beautiful! They turn into… Half a fish! Or what is it… A mermaid? Yes. Yes! You turn into something half fish and half you!! Zoom zoom zap! Let me zap you!

It Takes Two To Mango

I heard a big festival is happening soon! Everyone must know that The Big One is coming soon, yes yes! If that’s the case… We should do what we must to help out! Please gather as much fruit as possible! All fruits of all shapes, sizes and colours! Make a mountain of tasty, sweet fruit! Anything will do! With so much fruit we can make a big offering at the festival! Yes!

Thoughtful Thoughts

Reward: A shiny rock?

Paladins are thoughtful, aren’t they? Yes yes. I wish to give my friend a meaningful gift, but I cannot decide what embodies our bond. Perhaps…anything on Elah will suffice. A shiny piece or armour? A sharp sword? A dead body from under the flowers? A shiny rock? Anything will do. Maybe you should give a meaningful gift to your friend, too?

The Missing Splash

Reward: A gravestone.

One of our kin went to the water and has not returned. Usually, there is splashing, laughter... something. Today, there is only silence and splotches of red. Could you look for them for me?

Fiending Fish

Reward: A fishy meal!

A feast of legendary scale is upon us! We must cook! We require only the finest ingredients: fish, more fish, and possibly additional fish. If we grill and stew enough fish, then we can show off our legendary fishy faith. Please help in cooking all these dishes! Don't forget the fish! Fish! Fish! FISH! FISH!!!!! FISH.

[MANTA: The fish are not happy about this!! That dark water has made fishing more dangerous, so be careful out there! But there have been report that the angrier the fish, the bigger, fleshier, and tastier they are?? Good luck!]

A Crisis of Unparalleled Proportions

Reward: A snack?

Pirates! Catastrophe has struck! My midday snack…is slightly out of reach! I would retrieve it myself, but alas ... my spirit is willing, yet my fins are decidedly unmotivated. Pray, assist me! Get me my snack!

[MANTA: We have reports that this guy's snack is always in ridiculous places that makes one question how the hell it got up there. If you can get it, great, but maybe try making it a new snack. I don't get paid enough for this]

Echoes in the Water

Reward: A feather.

Sometimes, when I listen closely, I hear voices beneath the water. They sound familiar. Could you listen with me? Perhaps you will hear them too. You heard nothing? Ah ... then it is only me. That is ... comforting, I think. Just like their beautiful faces...

I wonder where the river carries things that fall into it. I have decided not to find out personally. You, however, look very capable! Can you take all of these (stolen) items I found and toss them into the river and see where they go?

"Oh no no no, this is very bad news, yes yes! I heard a big nasty, large bear has made itself known on the island of Hero's Rest. While it's been living deep in the woods, it has a very bad attitude and would certainly eat a moogle or any other creature that wanders near it. That means it could eat me! A namazu!! Given a bunch of reckless teenagers live on the island, it should probably be dealt with in some manner. Either through capture and relocation, or otherwise? I don't know!"

Dark Water

Reward: 500 dubloons

Strange occurrences have been happening lately as ships and islands report of a mysterious "dark water" that has appeared. At times it's like a stain in the water, and other times it's thick like oily sludge. Islands have also seen trouble due to this strange phenomenon, with distress signals growing as the days go by. If anyone can spare some aid, here's how you can help:

• Shipwrecks. Assist any damaged ships or rescue their crew still in the water. If it's marine life like orcas attacking them, don't harm them! Try to dissuade or drive them away somehow. If it's monsters, then attack at will.
• "Tar balls." There's another post about this ("Rolling with Damacy") and we don't know about this fish god nonsense, but help clean up the shores and remove them from those affected.
• Purify the dark water. The purification methods used on other miasma and toxins seem to work well against this dark water. Try and contain the spread before it takes over the whole ocean!
