EXTRA NOTES
Here is a recap of a few things that occurred last month.
YA RELAEH
From the event, we got a lot of fun new lore drops that continue to build onto the history and mystery of what happened in Sarht's desert region.
Very interesting stuff, very interesting. However, some other bits of lore was revealed through the mysterious "merchant," Adinvels. Who is this guy? No one knows still, but he revealed exceptional fighting prowess, capable of switching unusual weapons and magic in mid-combat. While he would offer actual wares to sell after those proved themselves worth it, he also imparted cryptic messages:
Very ominous. Very mysterious. But this is not the last we've seen of him.
Relaeh is also a mysterious figure still, but the scale visions at least give an impression that he was a great healer dragonfolk, and perhaps not an ordinary dragonfolk. Perhaps an actual dragon? Although it's not a whole lot, the people of Ya Relaeh now have a face to the name and can continue researching the figure.
Other findings out in the desert give hints of the advanced tech of the era. Verso and Lune even find an interesting omni-tool with a digital interface that can release a weapon from within. Evidence of advanced machinery is also found scattered throughout the sands.
As for the other figures that appeared through the storm, they are still unidentified and will continue to drive back any who manage to get into the storm. They will also be more agitated after news of a lost city was discovered.

DRAGON SCALES:
A snake hisses as it slithers to an abrupt halt, coiling upon itself.
"Dammit! They're here, too!"
More join him, all of them clad in red and black uniform with various weapons strapped on their backs. They stare at the black scales that protrude from the sand, poisonous fumes thick in the air that they can already feel the effects even from where they stand on top of the dune. Bodies of those who first stumbled upon them are found below, their bodies already decaying.
"We'll have to find another way around… Stupid dragon, think this will stop us!?"
For now.
A deeper, low voice echoes around them before the sands suddenly give way beneath the group. They scream as they try to grab onto each other, trying to stop them from sliding down, but another scale reveals itself and as soon the first hits it, it explodes like a poisonous bomb and the vision fades before it can reveal the grisly fate.

In the small but pristine building that looks reminiscent of a shrine, the walls are tall and white, the care and reverence clear from the lack of dust and sand. Paintings of dragons flying are depicted on the ceilings, the walls filled with murals and carvings of various scenes of battle of all kinds of reptile folk. In a room lay a young reptilefolk, a lizard type, who is clearly ill and having difficulty breathing. Their family gather around in fear but there is hope when a tall figure steps through the doors. Dressed in a white robe, the teal blue dragonfolk smiles at them and speaks in a quiet, gentle voice.
"You did well making the journey. Now, I will do my part."
Kneeling down, the dragon holds his claw over the young lizard's face and a golden white light pours out. Soon their complexion improves and the labored breaths ease to more relaxed until they are now sleeping peacefully.
"Thank you, Lord Releah," the mother sobs as she reaches out to touch her child's face. "Without you, he would not be alive."

"This way, hurry!"
A voice shouts frantically to the group running behind them, and as the stained glass lantern light spreads it reveals dark, rocky tunnels and faces of young lizard and snakefolk with few adults as they stumble their way through. A loud explosion is heard somewhere far behind them, rocks falling on them to make them scream.
"It's all right! Keep moving! We're almost there!"
More running until at last they break through an exit of the tunnel. But before them is a fierce sandstorm, the winds roaring and howling. As the smallest cower and try to run back, the older ones quickly grab them.
"There's no turning back, we have to push through! There are others waiting, I promise! Just cover your faces and follow the light! Believe in Sarht!"
Although they cry, they try to repeat the mantra until it starts to turn into a kind of hymn. With their voices echoing through the tunnel walls, they march through until the lantern and their voices disappear into the storm.

"You're a fool to follow that lot, death and dishonor is what awaits you and their ilk."
"I'm the fool? YOU are the fool to not realize your ways are dying. The world is bigger than just the sands, and if we don't move the grass dwellers will take us all!"
A large tortoise glares at a viper that hisses its discontent, fangs bared as she swings her arm wide. Beside them is an oasis that is starting to dry, the village that once settled there now desolate.
"How long must we keep this nomadic life, I'm sick of it! There are fertile lands out there, lands that we can have for ourselves! Our cousins are too peaceful to understand the advantage we have, that is why Delvanis—"
"Do not speak of that name!" The tortoise's voice booms over the sands, and those who had come out to watch shrink back. "If that is your wish then go, but know you can never return."
The viper just hisses. "You never let me belong, none of you!"
Without another word, the viper grabs her bag, a strange spear on her back, and hops onto a strange vehicle before flying over the sands. The tortoise only watches before sighing heavily.
"Granchild…how they poisoned your heart…"

Harsh desert winds bluster over a small village, the houses made of clay and fabric not meant for long term settlement. A black miasma rises from the sands, bodies of the villagers all lie still. Some have their scales turned black as if through necrosis, but others who are not in the thick of it still have some color. A groan and a sob can be heard somewhere in the houses.
No… No it's not too late, I sense life. I can still save them.
A quiet cry is heard from somewhere and suddenly water begins to rise around the village. With a golden white light the water continues to rise higher and higher until it forms a sphere over the village. Rather than crash down, it falls as rain, steam forming where it hits the hot sand and black miasma. It washes away the poison, and while it's too late for some, those who are less afflicted are able to slowly open their eyes and look up to see a shadow of a dragon through the rain. A teal blue feather falls, and one of the adults cries upon grasping it.
"Relaeh… Thank Relaeh…!"

ADINVELS MESSAGES
There is a warrior of legend, one who was known for his bravery and charm. A hero that led armies across the sands, conquering all who opposed him. A hero who led a trail of blood and corpses, sparing no one, all for glory and power. A hero who betrayed those who believed in him.
Stranger, who was he a hero for?
Stranger, who was he a hero for?
As you travel through this land, remember this. This land is drenched with the blood of the fallen. Once, it was the way of things, to claim land to survive. Once, the wars, though brutal, still held honor. But then because of greed the way was lost and innocents were slain in bloodlust.
Is this land really worth saving? Was all that glory and honor worth it when it filled heads with egos instead?

Your teamwork is…interesting. There was a time when a legendary warrior had someone to call as his love, but he betrayed her just like everyone else. What was once a romance of the centuries turned into tragedy and vengeance, proof that fairy tales are just that—fairy tales.
Take heed to not forget what is most important and not let pride and vengeance cloud your heart.
Take heed to not forget what is most important and not let pride and vengeance cloud your heart.
The desert is merciless, a tortured shell of its former glory. The one who drove it to its downfall is buried beneath it, and cursed it with his final breath. It is better if it remains hidden, sealed with these storms than see the light of day. Bury its rotten history to be forgotten.
Or so that is what some think. What about you, strangers? Do you think a rotten past should stay lost, or should it be remembered and overwritten by the future?

Your swordsmanship is formidable. A warrior who was once of great renown once wielded a sword known to drink the blood of those slain. It is said to be a curse, one that poisoned the warrior's mind and drove him to the warpath and own destruction.
Take heed to not follow in his footsteps, or you may suffer the same fate.

Here are some other updates!
» Enough bonfires were lit around Nogard, allowing the poor leviathan to finally thaw enough to be able to swim towards warmer waters. Those on Nogard will be able to enjoy a nice cruise and occasional stops on various islands throughout the month.
» Elah will be towing Eltrut not too far behind as it's time for the big turtle to also head to warmer waters. This means the two leviathans will be in much closer proximity for easy travel.
» Clive and Jill have officially announced their marriage ceremony! It’s set to take place later this month! ❤️
» Darin has been using the Magnetecorum brought to him to further refine his Beacon Boxes and expects to make an announcement of a new metal shortly. This new metal, he believes, can draw upon a person's emotional energy to create tools and armor made stronger through fervent desire.
» The dragons were very pleased with the nests created this year so there will be no plundering of other islands they say, hooray! (Disclaimer: they never really plundered other islands it was said in jest.)
» Haunted Estate. After a crypt beneath the pet cemetery with the sounds of the shadow creatures found by Sherlock and Wriothesley, the Paladins went to work clearing it out with the help of the giant snail companion. Although things have calmed thanks to this, it will remain closely monitored.
» Honse. The strange honse from the month before has been released back into the wild and has reunited with the second one that appeared last month. Where they have disappeared to no one knows, and the creator of the two creatures remains at large… Hopefully there won't be anymore, right? …Right?

SPECIAL QUESTS
Although we aren't holding a large event this month, we do have some ominous things happening as a result of the Ainomiad group that discovered that lost, frozen city. Emet-Selch, Professor Turo, Shadow, and Sherlock Holmes had released their findings earlier, and two of those are highlighted this month.
All information is on the MANTA Board under Special Quests! However, characters can also refer to the findings post linked above and on the quests to ask questions to the group about what they saw for any hints and help in dealing with them.
There will be a second part for this plotline, but the timeline is currently not set. So there will not be any formal sign-ups/interest check this month.
» Dangerous Snake Dragon. One of them is a monstrous snake dragon (dragon snake??) that has escaped the city's location and is swimming southward, wreaking havoc and destruction on various islands it passes. Ice spikes (or perhaps scales?) are left in its wake, creating shadows that will possess others and start to freeze them. So far the hardest hit are the islands located closer to the arctic zone. But with the Leviathans on the move, there could be trouble later… Although the creature cannot be destroyed at this time, it can be damaged. Will it be stopped before it reaches Eltrut!? (Note: it will not be able to reach Eltrut during this month, but next month or so remains to be seen.)
» Mysterious Music Boxes. A music box had been found in the lost city that resonated with a bell tower and showed beams of light that pointed to four other directions. The current theory is more music boxes will be needed, the problem is finding them. The quest entry has a list that players can choose from and sign up for! We'll provide additional details on the scenario to those who reply.

SARHT EXPEDITION
As for the Sarht expedition, the group had found a mysterious city sealed underground, most of it completely preserved as if frozen in time. Only one part of the city was showing signs of decay in an unnatural way. Here are some of the quick highlights:
There will be a network post about the findings and the golden keys from Cid within the week, so those who have those keys or are interested, keep an eye out for that!
Just like Ainomiad, there will be a part 2! However, the city is currently inaccessible as they have no idea how to get back in there, so that's going to take a bit. We'll have sign-ups again once we're ready, and then there will be a final part after (ooh aaah).
» City Lost in Time. The city is hidden deep underground with no known way to access it. It is surrounded by a glass dome and has a twilight sky that does not change. The city itself was preserved in such a state that it looked as if it was frozen in time. Food was still fresh, plants were in bloom, not even a speck of dust. There are devices and tech similar to those found in Nilatast, evidence that it must have existed within the same time period. Although there were signs of other creatures like the cactuars lurking about, they felt more as if they had entered the city rather than there from the beginning. Despite the visions and hints of a war, no sign of an attack on the city could be found. Instead, it is completely empty with signs of mass evacuation. Because everything is preserved so well, it's a treasure trove of information.
» Dragon Statues. At the very center of the city is a magnificent fountain with giant statues of three dragons. The largest is a golden dragon with its wings spread wide to cover the entire plaza as it faces west. This is believed to be depicting Sarht. On his right is a white, silver one that faces north, which is coincidentally the same direction as Ya Relaeh. Scholars will start to wonder if this is Relaeh's true form. To Sarht's left is a black, obsidian dragon that faces south. Although the statues seem to be in pristine condition, the black one has a few cracks and the identity is unknown.
» Carved stone tablet and keys. In the city square just outside of the temple is a stone tablet with carvings upon it depicting images of glory and battle. At its center are the three dragons, the two on the side facing left and right while the center and largest one, no doubt Sarht, faces forward. Around them are three groups of four holes as if meant for each dragon, and inside there are rune-like letters carved into the stone that match those etched on the golden keys.
With one key placed in, the sound of drums and voices could be heard singing and shouting a battle song, only lasting moments before it faded. With two keys, three blares of a battle horn echoed through the city, and the voices sang again, rushing past the tablet and towards the temple doors... Unfortunately, the doors remained firmly shut and locked and could not be opened. It is clear that twelve keys are needed to be used here.
» Echoes. The three witnessed three different "echoes" of a moment in the past.

» Echoes. The three witnessed three different "echoes" of a moment in the past.
- Armies of various Reptile- and Dragon-folk fighting on the battlefield. It was a ruthless fight with both sides using advanced weaponry, though one side was noticeably more advanced than the other with things like lasers and strange firearms. The fighting stopped for a moment as everyone watched Sarht fly over the battle and disappear beyond the horizon.
- Outside of the temple was a gathering of Reptile and Dragon-folk, with several leading the charge. While their words could not be interpreted, it was clear that it was a rallying call to battle. At the sound of a battle horn, the soldiers cheered and marched off to block an invasion. All soldiers except one dragon who was apparently named "Delvanis".
- There is a construction factory that shows advanced technology and systems employed. Although it's unclear what it is they are making, the amount of metal and some details on the large pieces suggest a vehicle or machine of some kind.

PLOT POINTS UPDATE
This month features our two Nilatast groups, who are split between focusing on the city itself and figuring out who this "Mother" figure is. The result of their efforts will have an immediate effect that will be seen in April 👀 Whether it will be through a Special Quest or event remains to be seen!
We still have several plotlines in store, but we're also trying to pace things so there isn't too much fatigue with it! Still, we appreciate everyone who has participated so far and accept any and all feedback on how this is running. Since we just started there hasn't been much "bleed" out into the game at large, but that should be changing now that several balls are rolling. We want to have more "consequences" and "effects" for what happens in these expeditions and adventures so that there can be more weight to what's going on and how it could affect things.
Although these will likely be through the MANTA Board, like the current Special Quests with the music boxes and snake dragon, they could be incorporated in future events.
Players with plot submissions! We've had a few that are on a loose schedule, but if you have a more definite timetable, please let us know so we can make sure we don't stack too much on top!
SPECIAL REWARDS
Another important update we'd like to share is special rewards for those who sign up. While furthering the plot and discovering world lore is a treasure in itself, it's still good to have something more tangible for players to receive for their characters as an incentive for those efforts. Thus we have a Rewards Claim thread for those who have participated in the Ainomiad and Sarht expeditions to comment to. For this, players can make special requests on the kind of reward they'd like their character to receive. This is not an exhaustive list, but it can be unique (reasonably) powerful items, special lore or maps that can further game plot OR particular player plots that a character can initiate, ability boosts, or even a special "blessing" from their aligned leviathan. All of these are of course limited as they cannot be game breaking or turn into "ultimate cheats," but we are happy to work with what players might like.
Characters who participate in multiple expeditions will still receive a reward for each, but we may limit subsequent rewards out of fairness. Players can also opt to "bank" the reward for later if they can't think of anything right away. Just be sure to comment, anyway, so we can keep track!
Next month, the Nilatast groups will also be able to make their own Rewards Claim.
