CR WORKSHIP: NOVEMBER 2023

Our CR Meme CR Workship is where players can drop all the cool info for their characters and try to plot with others to continue existing or create new CR. Be sure to look over the MANTA Board as well as current events if you'd like to include them in your post.

We also include a designated toplevel for Crew Recruitment where players can make OOC ad posts for others to either join or request to join or make a crew. This is all for OOC coordination, so you'll have to figure out how it works ICly.

If you have multiple characters, make an individual toplevel for yourself with your player info and comment to it with each character separately.

Character: Astarion
Canon: Baldur's Gate 3, Act 3

About: Vampire, thief, internet's babygirl. Astarion is a man with a ton of trauma on the precipice of an extremely important decision back home that will decide his d&d alignment once and for all. He's abrasive and sarcastic, he's charming and flirty. He lies to get his way but if you get underneath his façade it turns out he's actually just 99 problems in a trench coat and barely holding himself together.

Anyway, being a pirate isn't such a bad distraction.

Abilities: His main skill is being a rogue and using slight of hand, which he doesn't need the tattoo for. But he's really interested in necromancy and he might get his tattoo this month so he can have his one cantrip back and so he can keep trying to read his Definitely Cursed Tome On Necromancy from Xenk's homeland.

PLANS

General: Astarion is just vibing and he's happy to be here for now. He's more of a follower than a leader (because he's an npc party member, you see), so if he's generally willing to go along for shenanigans although depending on what it is he's likely to complain about it. He's got a very solid cr base, but I'm always down to looking for more and I'm also down to have help create a bridge if he knows someone you want your character to know.

Also this month he's getting THREE WHOLE people from home. He might be feeling a little more homesick than usual? No, definitely not. He's fine.
MANTA Board:

☆ Claws and companions: Astarion actually eats the rats everyone is presently killing, so he's going to be a little mad about this quest. I mean, he doesn't want to eat rats but there's not a lot of options when you're at sea. Luckily for Astarion he has a couple willing partners so he is adopting a cat and helping her learn the tricks of the trade.
☆ Thinking With Portals: This is a d&d item, so he's going to want to help! Also, you know another great fix for not having to eat rats on a boat? Simply never being on a boat in the first place. Work smarter not harder, y'all.
☆ Gallows Gambit: He's got a +13 to slight of hand and a mountain of trauma around being restrained of course I'm doing this quest.
☆ Hormone-Inducing Pollen Plants: You know why. The 200 dubloons, obviously.

Event:

I don't have as many specific thoughts on the event, but I am going to put up a log with MANTA Board and Event things. For the event:
★ Experiments on the Undead: Astarion isn't going to love that the paladins think that's an acceptable thing to do, so he's going to try and steal the pieces. Of course, he's also going to get aggressive over it so feel free to engage him but watch for his fangs! He bites!
★ Big Game Hunting: If anyone needs someone to help out with the hunting, Astarion can be persuaded to join. He might also drink from a boar or two, it is good for him.

CR Dreams: I'm just here to keep having fun, so anywhere people who like Astarion I'll likely be down (with the caveat that he might not be). I like to facilitate things however I can and I'm always down to bounce ideas! I've been a little slower the last couple weeks because of work (it comes in waves) but know that the spirit is willing even if the mind and body are not always.

Ohoho. I'd be down for gallows stuff or hunting, probably leaning towards hunting since you've got plenty of takers for gallows drama already. They can continue their nicely transactional relationship, exact forms depending on how fresh Astarion needs blood to be (Kimmuriel would probably offer to bleed/bottle it for him if he's able to drink stored blood, or he can stun wildlife for him to drain)

bg3 is so weird on the "how fresh does it need to be" because Astarion consistently complaints about spilt blood but then there are examples of whats pretty heavily suggested to be bottled blood so???? but the vampire rules in bg3 are really fast and loose and "so anyway the tadpole"

but yes they should definitely go hunting regardless

MAYBE IT NEEDS...PROPER PRESERVATION? Like they cant drink it if its not right from the source otherwise?? Like sure I'd buy that in a pseudo-medieval setting, they dont exactly have like, blood packs. That is really weird that they don't specify Freshness Level though since that could change some things...

right and the 5e monster manual isn't much more help--it just specifies "living creatures," but doesn't say anything about blood preservation. i assume this is just so you could do whatever makes sense for your campaign some ppl might want the challenge of always fresh vs others might want to carry around a cool set of vials. and further complicating it astarion also mentions that he wants gold goblets so he can drink blood out of them so obviously it doesn't have to be a neck-to-fang situation, but who can say. I imagine it's some kind of bullshit like the longer its away from the body the less life-giving nutrients it has, like how thinking creatures give more of a boost than non-thinking creatures, etc. but also the point is a little moot because he has friends who are willing to let him drink from them so its a lot of thinking for basically nothing lmfao

Oh excellent!! Aerith is wonderful, I can't say for sure Astarion will love her but I DO so that's all that matters. And he likes Fenris a lot so at least he won't be put off if she mentions that. I'm down for whatever!! I'm finishing up the starters in his open post tonight so feel free to hit up whatever strikes your fancy.
