QUICK UPDATES
YO HO HO!! WELL LAST MONTH WAS FUN, RIGHT? Since this month is an app month and everyone is kind of dying in various ways, May should be a bit more chill with a more fun event at the end of the month. Of course, that doesn't mean what happened in April is being shoved under the rug…
We have updated the Calendar for important dates, but here is a quick heads up on what to expect this month:
The Manta Board has been posted with new and updated quests! We have an interesting Special Quest tying in with what's happening this month, as well as the introduction of Crew Quests! They are also in the Special Quest section. Crews will have to make their own logs for these quests, we will not be providing any designated logs for these.
Due to a certain mad alchemist not being caught by…anyone…there's a new bounty on the board that might turn a few heads.
Our Rewards page has been updated with a few new things for the month!

ABDUCTION RAID AFTERMATH:
Investigations into who was involved with the illegal crystal and whale trade reveal that many affluent Paladin members were involved and perhaps even started the whole endeavor. There was of course Corsair involvement especially when it came to supplying the goods, but no one is as surprised, especially as they were preliminary suspects. Because of these shocking revelations, important council members from both sides were arrested and stripped of their positions, and others in high positions were the same. Of course, quite a few were killed on the site, but enforcement will continue to look into those involved around them.
Because of the nature of the crimes, an independent faction from Atnam was employed to oversee everything to ensure more corruption did not take place. Due to their exemplary show of leadership and achievements in the raid, the captains of the Stormbringer and Royal Fortune, Fiona "Redbeard" O'Malley and Miranda "Wavebreaker" Thorn, receive high honors and appointments to help fill in some leadership roles (information about them can be read here). Other captains and members who joined the fleet and helped with the rescue will also receive rewards, and the victims will receive compensation along with whatever treatment is necessary. A memorial for all those who passed throughout this harrowing ordeal will be constructed once plans are finalized.
As for the mysterious entity that appeared, no one knows what it was exactly, however there are theories based on old legends. Only a leviathan could have such power, and could it perhaps be related to this legend...?

REPPANSAGEN AFTERMATH:
Thanks to everyone pitching in to help "Ol'Snappy" the grumpy snapping turtle leviathan, its temper has calmed significantly. Removing the spines and the viruses have removed most of the toxins that were causing it pain, and removing other debris and sources of discomfort have helped as well. The natives are also appreciative of those who dealt with the scavengers that were causing problems on the surface. Because the leviathan now needs to heal and recover, it will move away from Eltrut, but is staying within sight mostly out of Eltrut's request. Still a reticent type of leviathan, it seems Eltrut wants to help its cousin with the use of its own magic and healers that are investigating the source of the spines and the viruses.
By studying the toxins in the spines, they are able to conclude that the toxins have similar traits found in puffer fish and lionfish, but they have never heard of any creature that would have been large enough to create such giant spines, or powerful enough to actually embed them into something as large and strong as a snapping turtle leviathan. Unfortunately, attempts to speak with the locals don't reveal much other than "big black fish," confirming it's an aquatic creature. The spines will continue to be studied as they do worry what could be out there that could cause such damage…
Research is underway regarding the "viruses" found within the leviathan's stomach. Although called as such, they are actually more like parasitic creatures that feast on the energy of any living creature. How they got inside the leviathan is anyone's guess, and now researchers worry that other leviathans could be potentially "infected."
Although visit to the leviathan is restricted, it may allow one to venture on its shell as long as they are respectful or to further help clean up and remove any remaining spines that might still be around. It is less prone to snap at passing ships, though it might tease a little. It will gladly open its mouth for food, however.
As a reward, before leaving it willbarf burp up a lot of the wreckage and treasure from its stomach onto a nearby empty island, as well as any wayward victims that were still trapped in there. Anyone is free to collect whatever can be found…if they still want it since it will be covered in leviathan vomit. But maybe that just makes it even more rare and valuable!! The Legendary Pirate Ship Onyx will still remain, the rumored glowing rings still mostly untouched. Perhaps another opportunity will come for those interested in seeing if these rings can truly allow one to travel do different worlds…

» Zelda's crew, Hand and Hearth, has been brewing potions to temporarily negate the effects of the armada insignias. With the help of Cid and the Hideaway crew, they have been distributing them secretly to anyone who needs them.

MINI RIFTS
As a certain someone coughazulcough tried to dabble in magic to return home, a different kind of "teleportation" occurs instead. Whenever someone thinks of "home," a rift will open up nearby that reflects a place that would fit that "home" kind of feeling. It doesn't even need to be exactly "home," it could be some other place of comfort that would draw the person in.
However, should one step through the portal, they are not sent to that location.
Instead, they will be teleported to any random location in Escordvi. Technically there would be no limits, but for the sake of RP, besides the common places like the leviathans, the range should either be an already established available location, or any island that's reachable from the main leviathans (except Elah).
This phenomenon will only last throughout the entire month of May at completely random times, after which all these "mini rifts" will disappear. We have a Special Quest assigned for this and characters can try to study up or figure out what the heck is going on. Whoever the culprit is… Well that's a mystery.

ELAH LEAVES
After investigations into the island and the organizations behind it, the revelation that so many influential members of the Paladin Armada were the main "beneficiaries" and proponents of the heinous operations has left Elah feeling quite betrayed. After all, not only were people and animals turned into crystals, but there had been whales that were hunted and hurt as well. Not to mention the appearance of the island, with that large skeleton of a whale used as some kind of prop…
Needless to say, Elah is quite upset and at the start of the month an unprecedented event occurs. It all happens with no warning— The ground suddenly shaking, everything twisting and moving as hot water shoots up from the several blowholes that line Elah's back. A low, rumbling groan that shifts into a high pitched squeal before everyone feels as if they are floating despite still having their feet on the ground. And then…
SPLASH!
The land shakes and everything trembles as everyone feels as if they are dropped about a foot. Objects fall, buildings are damaged, large cracks form on the ground, breaking the well polished streets…and then the screams of fear and shock as everyone looks up to realize the once familiar sight of Elah's spine and dorsal fin are nowhere to be seen.
Elah has completely shed the earth on its back like a second skin and has disappeared into the depths of the water. Once the severity of the situation kicks in, alarms will sound and all available leaders gather for a special meeting to try and figure out what to do. The problem is because investigations revealed various members of the council and others in high positions were involved in the crimes, there are less members and the panic is so high that it all ends in chaos.
Eventually a few manage to establish a few plans to help the people and investigate how much damage was sustained. But the two biggest questions that still remain are: where is Elah and how do they find it?
So all of that is to say Elah is gone and the land that had been on top of the whale is now one massive floating island chain that is managing to stay together. However, because the land is not anchored to anything, it will slowly drift along the currents. Eventually Eltrut or Nogard may help, but they are also not so willing to help the Paladins given what happened (granted Nogard already doesn't care much about them). So it will be some time before the leviathans make a move.
In the meantime, assistance in helping with the damage caused by Elah's "shedding" and how to find Elah will be appreciated.

INSIGNIAS REVISED
Because of Elah's departure, the purpose of the insignias have now changed. Although they still remain on everyone, they no longer cause that burn effect when next to opposing Armada members. Instead there is just a little prick on contact and that's it. Of course, if players still want to play with that mechanic, it's possible for the effect to flare up at random. Otherwise, it's now basically just a tattoo to identify who is where.
The purpose for this is now so that Paladin members who are still under investigation cannot hide and pretend to be Corsair, and this also may be a lingering punishment left by Elah.

DEEP DIVE
In an effort to find Elah, news from an underwater city reveals that they may have sighted the large leviathan passing through and entering the deep ocean waters beyond it. It's not possible for anyone to travel into the deep ocean without aid of another leviathan capable, of which they do not have ready access to.
Thus midway through the month, a trip to the city will be made to try and gather more clues. This particular city is also home to whalefolk, so they may have some ideas on how to help reach and earn Elah's trust again. Of course, those venturing down will have to earn their trust first, as the whalefolk will be understandably wary given everything that's happened. There will be other interesting underwater folk that will appear, perhaps even those from the dark depths of the deep ocean…
Just like previous underwater city trips, everyone will have a chance to turn into some kind of merfolk. As a fun twist, it's also possible for them to completely transform into a sea animal.
