QUICK UPDATES
YO HO HO!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope everyone survived the holidays! Our third round of apps are now open, and we wish everyone luck!
We have updated the Calendar for important dates, but here is a quick heads up on what to expect this month:
The MANTA Board has been posted with new and updated quests!
There's another follow up for the Gallow's Gambit where everyone can vote for the perpetrator's punishment! Head to the this top-level to leave your vote!
Our Rewards page has been updated with a few new things for the month! We also want to make a note that players can request customization for some reward items. This is mostly for items that can have easy variations, such as a different color, type, or flavor. In most cases, the change will have no extra cost. However, some may require extra points, so be sure to ask!

EVENT DONATION
Now that the game has settled in a bit and crews are starting to form, we're ready to try another thing we have yet to introduce: donate points to unlock events! Quoting from the Game Info:
For this first time, we'll have a bonus event in March that can be unlocked for 100 points total. This means we just need at minimum 25 characters to donate a max of 4 points. It is possible for characters to donate 2 points instead. Players with multiple characters can submit for all of their characters.
The deadline is February AC, and players can go ahead and submit this January AC. However, you cannot double submit. This means if you submit in January, you cannot submit in February. Should we reach the goal by the end of January AC, then we'll close donations and not ask for anymore in February and instead introduce some quests to help connect to the event in March.
If we get a surplus of points, we'll stock the points and use them for the next donation!
We'll have exact instructions on how players will submit their threads for the donation along with their activity starting with January's. These threads will be extra threads, so AC threads will not count. They will need to be either Bonus threads or quest threads. Donated threads will count as "spent," so they cannot be used for rewards.
Since this is our first time doing this, we'll adjust as needed! But if you have any questions, feel free to comment and ask.
For a high price, players can pool their points for a community-wide unlock. This could be a new island, a boss creature, special event, or some other large scale event-like quest chain that would expand the world. We have a few updates and notices to share with everyone as a result of various going-ons last month.
Now that we have crews forming up, we'd like to encourage everyone to explore on their own and create their own places to help us world build! We have our own set locations, but honestly we're also making stuff up as we go, and there are hundreds or thousands of islands and places that could be out there, either barren or filled with fun mysterious, creatures, or even people. Since the game has a big adventure/exploration focus, we'd love it if players go out and make something on their own! If you have any questions if something is okay or just want to run something by us first, you're more than welcome, but otherwise have at it.

» Magitech Research: There were plenty of advancements in the Magitech department this month that the researchers are very pleased about, from creating lightning-based grenades to pairing them with fire magic, as well as an engine! They will be taking these findings and continuing to further development, and will return to the MANTA board soon to seek out the aid of riftfarers again in the future!
• Turo is continuing his research on improving the Poké Dolls and Substitute Dolls, and may be very close to producing a new and improved version of both sometime soon. The data collected by others and himself having been extremely helpful.
• Cid is looking into developing non-lethal devices and is expanding his research seeking volunteers to test them.
» Bite-Sized Blessings: The little pink dragon has been released to live freely on Nogard! (No, it cannot be adopted.)
» Honk II: Thanks to Dongfang's efforts, those with a strong affinity to fire banded together for one last final battle to take down and successfully kill the menacing beast. To celebrate, Dongfang and Kotori hosted a barbeque... serving stewed goose! Good job, everyone!
» Fey Fighters: People will be hearing the Fey Fighters' new hit love ballad, "Crimson Serenade", often sung and played throughout Eltrut:
In the moonlit night, where shadows dance,
A man, he roams, with a mystic trance.
Eyes ablaze like rubies, a flaming red,
Hair pure as snow, a silken thread.
Red-eyed vampire, a creature of the night,
With white hair that gleams in the pale moonlight.
A love so forbidden, yet it takes flight,
In the silent hours, where passion ignites.
» Toy Island: It was a hard fought battle, but the xylophone was destroyed, lifting the curse. However, the Pirate King escaped, ruing a certain ballerina slipper, so will he return? For now, everyone was safely rescued and returned home. The Frostsinger is grateful to everyone's assistance and there will be discounted on toys for the next month. For now, Toy Island is prohibited from entry as the Frostsinger and her jackalopes work to clear out the rest of the rats and ensure the island is safe from any lingering curses.

WINTER RETREAT
For the upcoming open log that will go up after applications are processed, all the leviathans will be migrating...north!? There is a mountainous, volcanic island that has become a popular vacation destination despite the potential dangers.
On the "safer" side of the island, a winter retreat has been established atop the vast snow capped peaks. It boasts of all sorts of winter sports and many venture out to test their skills. But at the base of the mountain, there is a second portion that has hot springs, fueled by the hot water heated by the volcano active mostly beneath the island. On the other side there are also lava fields where hot magma continues to spew out from the cracks and fissures directly connected to the volcano.
While the winter retreat and hot springs will provide for more relaxing entertainment, there will be plenty for those who wish for a bit more adventure and exploration to do. Unique creatures, one of a kind materials, and undiscovered areas can be explored as this winter retreat is still relatively new, much of its land still untouched. The Corsairs on Nogard will have an even more interesting experience as Nogard may decide to latch onto the "hotter" side of the island.
The leviathans will only hang around for the first two weeks of the month and then will migrate away again. The only difference will be Eltrut, who will drift somewhere before hibernating.
