MANTA BOARD: NOVEMBER 2025

The MANTA Board is posted every month, but the quests are on a "2 month cycle." This means quests can last for two months with possible updates or new additions in the second month before it completely refreshes for the next cycle.

Quests are separated into five categories and all have flat point values: General (4pts), Corsair (4pts), Paladin (4pts), Bounties (6pts), and Specials (12pts). Crew quests are listed under "Specials" and are worth the same amount of points (12pts). Although these quests are intended for established crews, non-members are allowed to assist if the crew invites them. However, non-members would only receive 6pts. Similarly, characters helping opposing armada quests will only be rewarded 2pts for participation unless specified otherwise. Special quests won't always be available so it may appear blank at times. These can range from group quests such as for special ship upgrades or island related quests, or they could be special event quests. All quest points can be used for the Rewards Shop.

If you wish to submit a quest, comment in the appropriate field during Activity Check with the quest written and we'll add it to the next month! Crews are also still allowed to make their own quests without our approval, but if uncertain players can comment here about them.

If you have any questions regarding any current quest, comment to this entry.

» GENERAL (4pts)
The Pearlescent God
Reward: A single glowing pearl.

There are reports of a distant island where villagers have fished a god out of the sea’s depths. This god, more like a giant beast, has been revered and worshipped on the island ever since. It is said that the god can cure any ailment by spitting bile on the afflicted or having them ingest parts of its body. The villagers shower it with lavish gifts as it rests within its holy temple, bringing hordes of food for it to feast on, even if that means they go hungry.

More recently, new reports claim the villagers have discovered another of the god’s powers. Its blood shimmers with pearls, and when the god is cut open, streams of those luminous gems flow from its wounds. In their greed, the villagers have begun harvesting these pearls from the god’s flesh, cutting it open again and again to collect their treasure.

Greed can lead to terrible, unspeakable things. Investigate the village and calm the people down before they work themselves into a bloody frenzy, or find another way to resolve this pearly problem.

(Here is a video visual of the concept for this quest. Content warnings for body horror.)

Pumpkin Clean Up
Reward: A freshly baked pumpkin pie!

With Ghoul’s Moon coming to an end, poor Eltrut is in quite a state. The massive leviathan is covered in smashed pumpkins that have turned goopy and sticky, clinging to its shell and the surrounding city. If the mess is left for too long, it might start to smell unpleasant.

Help Eltrut get squeaky clean by clearing away the heaps of pumpkin guts scattered across the leviathan, the streets, and the docks of the main city. There are plenty of big mops and buckets available to help with the cleanup. Once Eltrut is sparkly and clean again, you’ll earn a well-deserved reward.

Stone Simulator
Reward: A pet rock.

Lately, a strange enchantment seems to be falling over people without warning. While minding your own business, you might suddenly turn into stone. A simple, ordinary rock.

As a stone, you may find yourself experiencing the world from a completely new perspective. Time slows down, the world moves gently, and everything feels peaceful. You might realize you’re just a small pebble resting on a vast and ancient earth far greater than yourself, or perhaps you’ll simply take the time to enjoy the stillness and the beauty of your surroundings.

Fortunately, this enchantment grants a faint telepathic link with other stones, allowing you to communicate with your rocky companions. So if you find yourself a little rockheaded, at least you won’t be alone. Settle in, soak up the quiet, and enjoy what it’s like to become a stone.

Clay Me Maybe
Reward: A potted skull orchid. It's an orchid with a flower bulb that looks like a hollowed out skull.

It’s the harvest season all across the ocean, which means that many farms and ranches are prepping for the colder winter months. This year, there is a special ceramics workshop that is looking for volunteers to come help create big harvest baskets made out of magical, durable clay.

Partner up with others and use the huge mound of mouldable clay to create these massive clay baskets. There will be a giant clay spinner to use as well as all sorts of tools and knick-knacks to create the pieces.

Once the huge clay basket is created, take it to the giant kiln to have it fired. Just don’t get burned! And once it’s cooled, it can be painted with anything! Perhaps a nice autumn motif? Your crew’s flag? A giant painted six and seven? You do you.

Acorns for the Web-Wardens
Reward: An acorn blessing of your choice. (you can make up the effect!)

With the trees swiftly turning red and yellow and rapidly dropping their pine cones and acorns, a flood of special little creatures have started to appear to collect said acorns. Acorn Spiders, one of the more misleadingly-named seasonal critters found around Eltrut, are prolific thimble-sized "spiders" that are actually crustaceans. And they need all the acorns they can get!

Help the little creatures collect acorns so they can use them as little shells on their backs. The more acorns collected and the more spiders that can be helped, the better, because it is said that these little ones are able to cast useful blessings on those who help them. Some of those blessings can be; Blessing of the Brave, which inspires confidence before a battle or dangerous task. Or the Blessing of Restful Sleep, which eases nightmares or exhaustion after hardship.

The Burble Unrest
Reward: You can keep the Burble; contact Professor Turo for 200 dubloons.

Burbles, a soft bodied but interactive toy inspired by various creatures meant for the enjoyment of all, have had a few amongst their numbers that have gone rogue.

Pieces of their mechanical insides were salvaged from Nilatast, and it appears some of those gears and other bits carried restless spirits within them. These Haunted Burbles can even be seen attacking any lingering Labrubrus and Lafrufrus as they run amuck, causing trouble. Though, some of the Burbles' actions look more like attempts to draw attention and communicate rather than to hurt anyone…?

Find a way to help the attached spirits move on, or at least calm their antsy souls.

» PALADINS (4pts)
The Glenn Library
Reward: 500 dubloons. And the privilege to read some of his rare books.

A unique request has come in to the paladin's manta board from a very reputable gentleman by the name of Sir Froge. He is requesting help from the paladins to help clean up and manage his very rare collection of books in his underwater library in his swamp.

Travel to his swamp on Elah and head down under the swampy water (using magic, scrolls, tattoos or otherwise) and enter the sir’s library to see what damage has been done to it. It appears to be infested with big overgrown waterbugs that need to be killed and cleaned out before they take over the old shelves.

Get to exterminating the bugs and cleaning out the library. Sir Froge says that those who help out are more than welcome to peruse his collection of rare and exotic pages but just be sure to put everything back to where it was when done with it.

Some of those titles are…

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine
Reward: A bottle of Rainfall Wine.

A local apothecary is examining special rainfall water that was discovered on a remote island. The water carries a unique tangy sweetness that is rather addictive, but all testers who drink it end up very sick (and immediately hung over) as a result…

See if it’s possible to aid the apothecary in turning this unique liquid into a refreshing beverage that is safe to drink. Perhaps it just needs some fruit or sugar added to it?

A Sheep in Sheep's Clothing
Reward: A huge basket full of flying sheep's wool. Making clothing with it may grant the wearer flight.

No one knows how this happened but some of the sheep from the local ranches on Elah have gained the uncanny ability to fly. Not only that, they seem to have developed a taste for the flesh of other sheep.

This mutant breed of sheep has been seen flying all over Elah, hunting and eating several of the normal sheep from the various flocks and ranches. And they obviously need to be stopped!

Elah sheep ranchers are looking for brave fighters to take out these flying aggressive cannibalistic sheep before their entire flocks are killed! It’s going to be a messy bloody job. But someone's got to do it.

» CORSAIRS (4pts)
Deep Sea Girl
Reward: 500 dubloons. And some enchanted black stockings. They give you the abililty to sing.

There is a new and up and coming bard in town on Nogard that has graciously asked the local corsairs to help her write her first debut song. She’s got the look, she’s got the voice, she’s got the motivation … But she’s just struggling with writing that winning set of lyrics to make her debut as a bard really shine.

She has a few open-ended prompts that she’s willing to share if someone can help her write the rest. Team up with a partner and write out the best song that you can to help her out. Work with your partner to interpret what the lyrics might mean to you, try to tell a story together and make it your own. Maybe you'll be able to get to know your writing partner better this way too.

And better yet? Maybe you could be her back up dancers for her debut show on the stage as well? She’ll be so grateful!

Here are a few of her starting prompts.

Shrimply the Best
Reward: A shrimp ring. A ring that looks like a coiling shrimp.

There’s an isolated cove that a peculiar species of glowing shrimp can be found, which are sought after by chefs of all kinds for their delicate and delicious flavour. However, they are very sensitive to shifts in water currents and tend to flee if a boat of any kind gets near.

The solution? Net-fishing from above whilst riding a pegasus. The local fishermen will gladly rent their winged steeds and nets out to any who will help them net a hefty haul of the elusive shrimp. Get fishing! Just don’t go too far from the area with the pegasus or try to steal them because they will buck you off immediately and dump you into the cold water.

Suspect Fowl Play
Reward: As much delicious mutant turkey meat as you can take home.

Something must be in the water on Nogard. The turkeys herds have gone crazy! They’ve mutated to double the size and have been terrorizing local farms and eating all of their crops at an alarming rate. They’re aggressive and have also grown razor-sharp teeth!? They obviously need to be culled before this gets out of hand!

Nogard needs corsairs to come hunt down these angry avians. Kill them before they make more trouble or make more mutant turkey babies. It will be a very messy job but at least there should be some huge turkey feasts that come out of this. Yum?

Hunting Competition
Reward: Dubloons amount varies per type of kill
100 dubloons for every kill donated for other islands

To help prepare islands in colder climates for winter, a hunting competition will be held to help increase the supply of meat and valuable materials that can be sold or donated for use. It's also a great way to bolster spirits and show off one's fighting prowess!

Various hunts will be available to take, and the beasts will be scattered on different islands. Strict rules must be adhered to, and participants are allowed to deal with any illegal activity or poaching spotted while hunting.

A feast will be prepared at the end of the month to celebrate and a perfect chance for cooks to showcase their skills!

The competition will last through the whole month and participants are to take photos and bring proof of kills or the entire hunt to a MANTA representative to receive their scores. Hunters can keep their kills or turn them in to be sent off as donation. To join, register at the nearest MANTA office today!

(Mod Note: there will be a designated log posted on November 10th for players to use.)
Bread Curse Continues
Reward: 900 dubloons.

Now that it's been determined that this horrendous curse is from a mysterious fungal parasite, efforts are now underway to find the source and stop the spread. Unfortunately, although many organizations and suppliers were disrupted last month, the leaders and origin of this outbreak are still at large. Help is needed for the following:
  • Find and detain those trying to profit off the outbreak.
  • Find the original of the fungal parasite. Some investigations point towards islands with mutant mushrooms as potential sources, but it's not confirmed if the same. Following reports of islands that were contaminated may yield potential samples of the fungal parasite for further study.
  • Continue harvest of yellow mushrooms found growing on the back of giant toads in swampy islands. Be careful as there are reports of poachers and hunters overharvesting or even outright killing the toads as if to prevent the cure.
Nilatast: In Memorium
Reward: 400 dubloons.

While many souls have been purified in Nilatast, there are still too many corrupted souls and machines that hinder safe research of the city. The miasma also remains thick around the city. Thus, these souls and the miasma need to be taken care of for easier study, especially with Ghoul's Moon fast approaching. Who knows what might happen now that their spirits have been disturbed…

However, not all spirits need to be sent off immediately. There are ghosts who will mutter about Nilatast's Revival and Liansa will also hint that "Mother" seeks the revival of Nilatast. If certain spirits who are willing to help are purified, they will remain to guide those on how to do so instead of passing onto the Farplane.

A small island, has been designated as a special memorial for those who wish to bury any mementos or tributes for the ghosts who have been purified. This is considered a great way to help those troubled souls to pass to the Farplane.

Thus the objectives at this time are the following:
  • Help purify the miasma with the use of the Mothfish and devices created with the gemstones and pearls while continuing develop new ways to expedite the process
  • Find and purify the corrupted souls with the same means as well as find the souls that can help "revive" the island
  • Help create memorials and tributes for the lost souls at Heaven's Pearl
Players are free to create any kind of backstory for the ghosts and extra details about Nilatast gleaned by the spirits and items found, before and during the invasion.
