« manta board: august 2025 »
For this month's board update, some quests have been updated to reflect progress from last month, with some carrying over as is.
Quests are separated into five categories and all have flat point values: General (4pts), Corsair (4pts), Paladin (4pts), Bounties (6pts), and Specials (12pts). Crew quests are listed under "Specials" and are worth the same amount of points (12pts). Although these quests are intended for established crews, non-members are allowed to assist if the crew invites them. However, non-members would only receive 6pts. Similarly, characters helping opposing armada quests will only be rewarded 2pts for participation unless specified otherwise. Special quests won't always be available so it may appear blank at times. These can range from group quests such as for special ship upgrades or island related quests, or they could be special event quests. All quest points can be used for the Rewards Shop.
If you wish to submit a quest, comment in the appropriate field during Activity Check with the quest written and we'll add it to the next month! Crews are also still allowed to make their own quests without our approval, but if uncertain players can comment here about them.
If you have any questions regarding any current quest, comment to this entry.
Hurried reports have been flooding in for a month now about a strange situation occurring across several islands scattered throughout the ocean. People are being found completely unresponsive and dazed. No matter how much they are jostled or urged to speak or react, the victims remain blank and detached. They show no emotional responses whatsoever, just empty shells, devoid of personality or feeling. Living, breathing bodies... but nothing more.
Leads have now confirmed that a cloaked figure is responsible for the situation. The man is a self-proclaimed "Phantom Thief" and says he will "steal the hearts of the wicked," leaving them empty, dazed husks. But how…?
Hunt down this dastardly man before more people lose their hearts to him. But how do you take down a man who can steal hearts? Perhaps you have to steal his heart first.
A noble lady, Miss Dorina Gray, is seeking subjects for her latest artistic endeavour. She's in search of individuals with striking faces, and even more captivating stories, to become the subjects of her next series of portraits.
Join her for a session where you’ll share the stories of your life, and she’ll capture your essence on canvas. It may seem unusual that she relies on your words for a visual work, but intriguingly, Miss Gray is blind. Despite her lack of sight, she possesses a rare gift. The ability to perceive a person’s soul through their voice alone. With this gift, she paints not what the eye sees, but what the spirit reveals be it inner beauty… or hidden ugliness.
You’re welcome to bring a companion. Miss Gray would be delighted to paint you both.
Living on islands and leviathans spread all over the ocean makes it hard to find a quick meal. Lately, a lot of new ships are popping up serving as “quick meal delivery” between islands. They will pick up your favourite meals and deliver them to you for a fee. Although, it’s not very fast seeing as it takes some time to get from island to island… So your food is usually cold…
But! Several of these food delivery ships are determined to make this work (will it, though?)! Therefore, they’re putting out a request to have ships work for them and to see which food delivery group can deliver more food without it getting cold! … Or moldy?
Sign up with one of the following and see how many food deliveries you or your crew can get out! Fast!
- Fish Dish 🐟
- Skip the Shrimps 🦐
- Scuba Eats 🦀
- Dinghy Dine 🦑
There have been some reports coming in of “demons” attacking various little villages on more remote islands out at sea. They’ve sent messages asking for help in getting rid of these demons before more damage can happen.
Although, the same reports say that the only way that these particular demons can be weakened is with the power of … song. Apparently, singing creates a golden shield that suppresses them and pins them down long enough to be easily killed.
Gather up some friends (they say groups of three work the best) and create a singing group and takedown these weirdly good-looking demons! And sing loudly enough that the golden shield will protect these little villages in the future.
Lately there have been reports of sightings of strange creatures, known as Phantoms, lurking around. They seem particularly drawn to anyone filled with negativity or even magic, no matter how big or small. These creatures may seem harmless at first, but reports announce that anyone exposed to them long enough will suddenly start to drip ink from their eyes like tears. Witnesses say that victims of these eventually turn into the same creatures as well, spreading an inky miasma in their wake.
Do your best in stopping these creatures from spreading out and taking more victims, or try to discover the source. Be careful not to become a victim!
As part of ongoing efforts to develop magitech, the Adamantine Forge has developed prototype crystal batteries which they hope to use to make a wider variety of portable gadgets for all. Help by testing out one or more of these new items!
- Pocket torch/portable lantern
- Portable two-way radio (set of two)
- An analogue clock (wall or tabletop variety)*
- Small kitchen appliances/DIY tools (e.g. electric whisk, screwdriver, drill...)
- OR request something custom! (Please direct inquiries to Emet-Selch.)
* Long-lasting and no need to constantly wind them up!
Last month, a strange request appeared on the paladin’s manta board. The message was a scrawled note from a lonely dragon whelp that wanted help to change into a human.
The little one has been speaking to some of the paladins (and corsairs) around and has made a few self discoveries thanks to the stories he’s listened to. For the most part, others have convinced the baby to embrace who he is and to love the scales that he wears. So now, he’s ready to embrace his inner dragon and to grow into the biggest, strongest, baddest dragon there is.
He just needs help learning how to control his fire breath. Help the whelp by teaching him ways to control his fire so that he doesn’t go around burning down trees and villages by accident. And be sure to give him tips on how to be a cool adult dragon!
Two rival publishing companies have been locked in heated debates over the proper forms of grammar and formatting of written text, and neither are willing to back down from their stance. There’s only one solution to this debate: a series of duels between the two publishing companies, with paladin champions representing each company. The side with the most wins will be declared victorious, and their grammar formatting considered superior. Take a side and test your skills to help settle this debate and defend each publishing company’s honor… er, honour?
Test your skills how? You say? The publishing company that you side with will be handing you … a sword rather than a writing tool. Which is a little strange for a writing competition. But if a paladin can take down the competition, who’s going to complain? Pick up your sword, win against your opponent and prove that one or the other publisher is superior.
A paladin goldsmith has recently begun selling enchanted eyeglasses with a curious little trick. When worn, these glasses reveal thin red strings stretching between people. These strings represent the bond between individuals and the thicker the strings, or the more of them there are, the stronger the connection.
Wearing these glasses offers a fascinating glimpse into how connected you are to others, or how deeply two people may be tied. Try on a pair and see for yourself, or keep one for future insight.
Rumours along the grapevine says that Captain Calico Jack’s ship has sunk out at sea. And now that the ship hasn’t returned, all the rare treasure that had been on that ship are now ripe for the taking. Get out there and search for the ship’s wreckage and pillage the treasure before it’s slim pickings.
It is said that the treasure that was on the ship consisted of several rare amulets and necklaces that Captain Calico Jack had planned to sell on the black market. Some of them are rumoured to be very dangerous, including necklaces that when worn grant the wearer special dark magic like blood bending and mind control. Seeing as these are particularly dangerous, they should be stolen with care.
Some of these trinkets have already been taken and either sold or broken... But there might still be some left for the taking.
Sailors speak in hushed tones about a legendary sharkfolk warrior who was so fearless he once wrestled a dragon midair. They say that though the warrior is long gone, his ancient, jewel-inlaid mask is out there somewhere, and could be worth a fortune.
A few sailors have supposedly found an island they claim to be the home of this legendary treasure, and are looking for help in locating and pilfering it from its resting place. But will this legendary treasure truly be found here, or is this just another wild goose chase? Only one way to find out! It’s a classic treasure hunt!
Although, if the mask is found, it will give the holder an irresistible urge to put it on. And when worn, the mask will force the wearer to grapple and wrestle with whoever is nearby.
The seamstress and owner of the magical fabrics shop, Fairy Fire Fabrics has a special request for the corsairs. She’s recently been commissioned with creating prototype diving suits that incorporate crystals and magic to regulate body temperatures. Everything had been going well with creating and testing them… Except for one thing.
Some of the boxes containing the final products have been stolen.
She suspects that it is a sneaky corsair or a rival designer who’s done the deed. And who better to hunt down a thieving corsair than more corsairs? She needs the extra finished suits back as soon as possible so she can complete the batch and sell them... She will be willing to share a part of the profits of the sales if the products are returned to her!

"Bad news, we haven’t tracked down Lyric yet. And now there are reports of people missing. We’ve come across several of his "robots" that are essentially machines attached to organics, likely the prisoners that did not escape the crystal island and been repurposed… The machines are currently seen in smaller groups near settlements. They do not act hostile unless met with resistance and appear to be searching for something. Stop them and continue finding a way to pin this guy down."
