Ahoy, mateys! Here be the monthly Activity Check!

In the Extra Notes section, please note the following, as well as anything else worth noting:

• What was discovered about the Ethereal Emberblooms
  
• Any discoveries found on Dead Kraken Island, and if there was a successful escape
  
• Any participation in the crab curry quest

Please check our Activity Check guidelines on our Game Info page for complete details, but here is the quick list of what you need to know:

» Only threads dated from May 1st through May 31st count towards the month's activity. (With the exception of certain backdated threads, read the linked AC guidelines for more details.)

» Activity requires one thread of at least 5 comments. The comment count is from your character.

» Any thread counts, including those made within your own entries and subthreads within your own toplevels. Individual entry posts do not count, only the threads within the posts. TDM threads with non-game characters will count.

» Continuation threads are considered as part of the previous thread so they count as one thread not two. For the sake of ease, we would like the two threads linked together.

» You are exempt from any checks for hiatuses that last for over 21 days. Anything less and you'll still need to submit your AC unless there are other circumstances.

» Because we are a capped game, there is no strike system. If you do not make the AC requirements, you will be cut.

» Bonus AC points: All extra non-quest threads not used for AC will be worth 2 extra points that can be used for reward redemption. Please check our Rewards page for more details.

There will be no warnings. All submissions are due Friday, May 31st 11:59PM US Eastern.

EXTRA FIELDS: This is not required and completely optional, but included in the submission form are two optional fields: Extra and MANTA Board Posting.

For the Extra field, this is just a space for players to note anything that occurred in their threads that they think might be fun for us to know. So if something particularly interesting happened (for example: discovering a new creature or location, an old artifact, or perhaps a character has stolen something), we highly encourage players to jot them down! Who knows, we may even find a use for it… In addition, we may ask players to submit certain activity related to an event.

You may also submit MANTA board requests to be included in the upcoming board. We will try to add them immediately, otherwise we'll save them for the next Board or a time we deem fitting. If you don't have one in mind at the time of AC, you can post it later to the upcoming Captain's Log announcement.

-Got forced into a maid outfit, though thankfully his curse helped soften the blow to his masculinity.

-Agreed to help Sidestep take on the corrupt Paladins running the prison on Dead Kraken Island.

-Agreed to help Ganondorf steal procure a ship.

-Participated in the Hot or Not poll Zack & Kaveh set up in their drunken stupor.

-Found out 4/6 of his crewmates are dating finally.

-Purchased a house.

Extra:
ETHEREAL EMBERBLOOMS: Daqiang snuck in to steal some flowers for Orchid and ran into Sherlock Holmes, who didn't care about his stealing flowers so his theft didn't get reported ( :D ) - because they found bodies in the ground! Daqiang recognized markings on at least two of the bodies as meaning they were dock workers from the port in Fang and took pictures of the markings to see if he could track down someone who knew them. Thread has not progressed much from there, but is in progress - Daqiang will be seeing if anyone recognizes the tattoos on one of the victims and the specific crude embroidery on the sleeve of another that says they were a regular muscle-for-hire on boats that needed extra men. And from there try to determine when they were last seen alive.

CRAB CURRY:
Daqiang met up with Zelda while trying to convince crabs to stop exploring and return to their families. Zelda was carrying letters and Daqiang was losing arguments with crabs while attempting to guilt them into giving up.
Daqiang also managed to harass dozens of seagulls by shooting fire at them while they tried to divebomb a big crowd of crabs at his feet who were cheering him on and suggesting more vindictive things to do to the seagulls. Ganondorf showed up and distracted him, so he put up a shield to protect his miniature crab court and a good dozen or so seagulls immolated themselves on it when they thought Daqiang had stopped caring about protecting the crabs. Oops.

MANTA Board Posting:
Quest: Richie Rich Reconnaissance
Reward: 200 doubloons per dead-drop
It has come to the attention of a certain group who prefers to not be named that one Dongfang Qingcang has been amassing a bit of a treasure trove. Specifics of what are in it are unclear, but the captain mentioned his 'treasure pavilion' on the network a few months back. He is also well known to frequent the markets looking for curiosities and, more recently, publicly acquired a magical toe ring to add to his growing hoard. This group is asking for reconnaissance to be done on the comings and goings of Dongfang Qingcang to help determine where his "treasure pavilion" may be located. Those who help gather intel should leave their notes in one of several dead-drop locations (1 to 3 locations to be provided by MANTA at the time of quest acceptance) where they can pick up a chit to claim their reward from any MANTA location - provided someone else hasn't already claimed the chit.
Oh and... try to keep the captain from finding out about this, okay?

Notes: Daqiang's known comings and goings can be found here so that no one has to thread with the character directly to gather information for this quest. Information provided to the dead-drops can be valid... or completely made up! The shady group behind this won't know the difference. Probably.

• Ethereal Emberblooms:
  • learned that there were bodies buried in the field with Dongfang, identified at least one to be Corsair
  • Sherlock wanted to investigate the rest of the field but was told no by the Paladins
  • spoke with Sidestep and Reaper about exposing the truth to the public
  • resulted in a public (anon) from Sidestep with pictures
  • that said, Sherlock did not follow the suggestion to provide himself an alibi against being the one to make the post as he was distracted by Mycroft's disappearance
  • If Sherry gets into trouble over it, then that's what happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
• Crab Curry: he did help with Crab Curry, but that was last month before Garuda attacked
• Has probably single-handedly created an increase in noise complaints after obtaining his violin, especially after Mycroft left


MANTA Quest Idea: (gen, edit to your heart's desire) (Inspiration), a locale called the Crow's Nest wants to throw a party where everyone pretends to be crows by wearing black and bringing shiny trinkets. It's based on some local folklore hero. (Think Robin Hood but crows) The "best" shiny trinket gets to be named a Crow Hero, but there are many different categories for trinkets. There may be many winners. (Basically to avoid having to oocly pick one winner) There are also fun games to play where people can trade trinkets, solve puzzles, or steal/hide and retrieve/find the trinkets from each other. It's a silly but good time. Cause trouble, however, and you may find the entire Crow's Nest will hold a grudge for life and then some. The crows remember.

Extra: Emet kept one of the tonberry's lanterns for Rem after killing it. Presumably it is a normal lantern.

He also helped in the Ethereal Everblooms quest, protecting the flowers and removing dead bodies. If the paladins want, he can set up a permanent magical barrier around the field using energy from volcanic fire crystals. It will make a very loud sound if anyone physically passes through it.

Extra: Reaper was part of aiding Ganon and others steal a ship, and remains to be part of the man's crew as his second in command.

• Aided in snagging pictures of the Ethereal Everblooms with the bodies hidden amongst the flowers and in the ground for the (Anonymous) post, doing so in a style that they couldn't be traced back to him.

• Remained in the Ethereal Everbloom field to quite literally haunt it, pulling off an act of multiple ghosts/ghostly forms with the aid of his wraith abilities and some old school tricks. Mostly to scare the hell out of any Paladin guards that looked to be trying to cover up/rebury the bodies as if they were never there.

• Used the time of the field being empty to collect clues of who the people dumped there once were to try and trace back if any were reported missing amongst the Corsair- and who might have been the cause of their bodies being shallow graved.

Extra: Turo spent so much time on Snaxburg Island I am not even sorry, amongst keeping himself relatively busy.

• Catalogued every existing Bugsnax on the island, along with behaviors and then some. These reports are something he's happy to share with the Archive by supplying it with copies while otherwise keeping the information easy for anyone to access.

• Witnessed Ganondorf tame a bugsnax known as Megamaki.

• Please don't eat the bugsnax; not just because they are alive, but because boy did he and Zelda discover the horrifying secret about them! That parasitic nature sure is... something, and answered a lot of questions. This is also noted in the cataloguing as they are still pretty damned fascinating creatures. Do not eat, consumption of a bugsnax is the sole way the parasitic danger exists.

• ... This discovery did not stop him from allowing a BBQ Bunger to tag along with him, the danger only comes in eating one. He also took clippings/cuttings of the various sauce plants to see if they could be grown elsewhere. Those are all fruits; yes, even the cheese sauce a fruit.

• Thanks to all of the testing of the healing sprays, the data collected, Turo was able to further improve the formula into something that can deal with burns, sunburns, cuts, gashes, and certain deeper wounds to an extent! Life threatening wounds will only have blood flow slowed just enough to give someone extra time to seek help. Those who rested of course have free access to these improved healing sprays as thanks and part of their payment for testing.

• Continued to aid any crabs he came across for continued Crab Curry help.

• Cared for injured turtles and helped with some construction efforts.

Now they just need help with putting it somewhere to display their greatest masterpiece. (Characters are free to toss them but the NPC will just make more. Everyone needs to see their work!!)

Extra: Sidestep did some crab currying, specifically they delivered lots of cute painted shells to hermit crabs they found seeking new homes and killed some annoying seagulls trying to prey on their new crab friends.

Sidestep got imprisoned, escaped (trauma means they struggle to remember exact events or who helped them or anything, but they're experienced with breaking out of high security prisons while lacking powers or weapons), and was ...kind of public about it in their anonymous network post about the imprisonment and what they found out about the everblooms, oh dear. Since escaping imprisonment they've been making a lot more use of their "do not notice me" aura when out and about and keeping their telepathy up in general in order to detect the intentions of anyone coming after them, but they have been out and about.

Speaking of, yeah they talked to Reaper and Sherlock and found out about the everblooms. They gathered a bunch of pictures the other two had taken (with Reaper making "mistakes" when photographing to make it look like a bunch of different less experienced people took the pictures he contributed) and displayed them without warning anyone about the contents and also wrote a bit about how the Paladins were taking random Corsairs to Dead Kraken Island. They were pretty obvious about being a prisoner that escaped. They also would have eventually snuck their way onto Elah with Reaper and helped him scare guards using their illusions. Probably shit like making illusions of corpses moving or floating bones that disappear when someone turns to look directly at them. Maybe some strange shadows moving through the fields. Might even make it look like there are multiple Reapers chasing and harassing people.

They've also joined Ganon's crew, as it has become obvious that getting interesting places is much easier if you're part of one, and also it's probably safer to have some of the scariest Corsairs on your side right now.
