CR WORKSHIP: MAY 2024

Our ~~CR Meme~~ CR Workship is where players can drop all the cool info for their characters and try to plot with others to continue existing or create new CR. Be sure to look over the MANTA Board as well as current events if you'd like to include them in your post.

We also include a designated toplevel for Crew Recruitment where players can make OOC ad posts for others to either join or request to join or make a crew. This is all for OOC coordination, so you'll have to figure out how it works ICly.

If you have multiple characters, make an individual toplevel for yourself with your player info and comment to it with each character separately.

About: Lawd. Um. Big Bad of the series, freshly hydrated I'm a memelord not sorry, hell-bent on becoming Ruler of the Land. Or Seas, here, I guess, they'll do. He's literally Big, he's literally Bad, and while he can act noble at times, 9/10 it's just an act to get what he wants.

Abilities: Gloom Darkness Darkness Gloomy powers, a hella fighter, and also he's got this pretty awesome stone that enhances his already awesome abilities but for the purposes of the game, it'd be able to enhance anyone who has it in their possession.

PLANS

General: EVENTUALLY he'll be getting his own ship and crew, probably starting on that ASAP. To that end I'd like him to build some 'allies' (I use that term loosely) and/or gather people with similar mindset as him to that would serve as crew. Other than that, nothing immediate!
Once he gets a ship though he may or may not be shanghaing a person or two. We'll get to that eventually.

About: Gohan's a kind, thoughtful kid who's always looking out for others. He's shy and awkward and tends to overthink things to a detrimental degree, but he's got a strong sense of justice that won't allow him to just sit around and wait when shit hits the fan. He's extremely intelligent for his age, and despite his hesitations, enjoys adventure and exploration. He's the kind of kid who befriends a dinosaur just because he can. No, really.

Abilities: Canon-wise, he's got a load of abilities. His basic skills include super strength, ki manipulation, and the ability to fly. His power is tied to his emotional strength, so when he's push to his limits, he can transform into a Super Saiyan, which multiplies the output of the above manyfold.

Although I don't have any immediate plans for magic here since he's got a wealth of abilities, as he settles in I'm sure that'll change.

PLANS

General: Mostly just settling in for now. I have some plans where he's going to get scouted for an established crew.

Long-term, I definitely intend to play with and explore Gohan's development path. He's got a lot of potential as a character, both figuratively and literally, and it'll be interesting to see how his experiences here shape him. He's got a concrete future ahead of him since there's a lot of canon past his current point in the timeline, so it'll be interesting to see if he goes down the same path or ends up doing things differently because of his experiences here.
Event: I haven't looked at it super in-depth but I'll probably just poke around on it as i dip my toes into things.

CR Dreams: All sorts! I'd love for Gohan to make friends around his age, and also hero-types for him to observe and idolize as he has a big superhero complex. Despite his intelligence and maturity and overall independence, he's still a kid, so having people who are willing to look out for him and make sure his needs are being met would also be great. He's the sort of kid who could probably make a great meal if he had a recipe to follow, but burn the house down if you asked him to boil rice without any instruction... He's very used to his mom or his not!aunt taking care of him.

Eventually, I'd definitely love for him to run into some baddies to tangle with. As much as he hates it, being pushed into conflict is what makes him truly flourish and grow as a person. But that's a down the road, i definitely don't want to have him thrust into that kind of conflict right off the bat lmao.

About: Roxas is the Nobody of series protagonist Sora. Or former Nobody, it gets a bit weird. Regardless, he's recently gained a body of his own and was all set to start living his life properly as a normal kid and ended up here instead. He's a little less than thrilled at having his plans messed with but you do what you gotta, even if that means dealing with seasickness and the big scary ocean.

Roxas himself is a pretty easy going kid. He's very much a teenager and doesn't trust super easily. He's fairly cautious, unless you manage to rile his temper up. But it's also pretty easy to break through that veneer and reveal the good kid underneath.

Abilities: Roxas has the ability to wield a mystical weapon called the Keyblade, and he's so good at it that he wields two of them. 20X attack modifier baby!
He can also use magic such as Fire, Lightening, Wind, and Cure. The basics of JRPG Magic.
Not sure if he's interested in learning anything beyond that right now.

PLANS

General:
-The big one is that Roxas is gonna get a big banged up this month. Take a hit, get injured, however you want to put it. You go up against some big, wind birds and even if you got that 20x attack modifier, sometimes it just doesn't go well.

-His crew will probably handle the initial rescue and recovery, but news will probably spread.

-As such, once this happens he'll probably be taking it easy for a bit to recover. But, being an active kid, he's not the best at taking it easy, so hopefully someone will stop him from pushing himself too hard.

-But, maybe he gets a cool scar or something. Idk.

-He'll be sticking close to land for a bit after that though, I imagine. But I'd also love for him to do something dumb.

-To allow for this, he probably won't have much of a presence on the MANTA board or event, but I might just tag around and if anyone wants him anywhere, he can certainly appear.

About: Stelle is the silent protagonist of Honkai Star Rail, and as such, she's not a talkative person! However, she's actually a little nuts, and has no common sense or propriety. She loves to help people, but it gets to a point where she makes up getting mental trophies for doing "good" things like opening mail packages not meant for her and fixing the problem, investigating and cleaning trash cans, making up meetings for researchers to attend... you get the point.

She's very friendly and super chill, to the point of actively texting former (and current) enemies and doing any errand you throw at her. It's super easy to be friends with her. She's also very good at fighting! Though it just winds up being her bonking people with her mysterious Curio baseball bat.

Depending on how Patch 2.2 goes, she might be getting canon updated soon. We'll see.

Abilities: She's... fairly normal? For a person who has a space nuke in her???? She can't use that space nuke so. She can whack people hard and has fire powers that come with extreme tanking skills. Basically she already comes with her own elemental skills. But she might consider developing water skills through the tattoo to mimic a certain someone, just for funsies. Also subspace storage, as is appropriate for any Hoyo character.

PLANS

General: No huge plans at the moment. Stelle is going to be treating this like any regular Trailblazing expedition, so I expect her to poke her nose into everyone's business and make lots of friends (provided I can keep up with her help my inbox is already so scary)

MANTA Board: Every single one of them. She's there. I won't actively write logs for ALL of them tbh, but she would totally be willing to do them all. If you want to thread out one of the missions with her, hit me up and we can do the thing!! :D

Event: Again.. she's there... for everything... how does she find the time and energy, I don't know. I have to poke through stuff to see what's good but I will definitely top level. Please hit me :D

CR Dreams: I have the cheap cop out answer of EVERYTHING. Please. Stelle is here to fulfill all your needs, especially the whacky ones. About: Actual shounen/JRPG inspired protagonist. He's loud, animated, easily approachable, and loves to craft. He's a master blacksmith and if you're in the market for some tinkering, you're speaking his love language. He's also got some trauma regarding his abilities that he's only now just starting to be a little comfortable about revealing, so feel free to needle him on that too!

Abilities: Darin's the reincarnation of a demonic god who is prophesied to end his world! He's not a fan about that! As such, he's got superhuman strength and resilience, but is severely limited by the fact that he hasn't trained his body to handle that power. In other words, if he punches too hard, he might blow his own arm off. He technically has magic but he doesn't actually know he has that from his canon point so it won't be coming up anytime soon. Gotta work towards it! But if your character can sense energy/mana, there's definitely stuff there to sense.

PLANS

General: Darin is going to be tangling with Garuda in the open log. This will be his first big display of his abilities so I encourage people to see the spectacle and ask him about later, especially since he's going to be getting pretty badly bloodied and will need someone to make sure he doesn't bleed out and/or drown. After this, hiding what he can do is going to be very difficult and he's going to have some issues with that! So if you want to help get into his trauma, I absolutely welcome it!

Beyond that, he'll be resting up. He's got to nerd out with Joshua about books, and he's probably going to work with Cid on some projects! If someone commissioned some items from him from his last network post, we can thread out him getting those items to you as well!

MANTA Board: I have to go over the postings in depth, but I'm always up to have Darin go on some jobs. He needs to save money for that forge.

Event: Depending on my schedule I'll at least be tagging around.

CR Dreams: I'm open to all CR, positive or negative. If you play a villain and you want a hero to throw them at, I am all for banter and growth. I'm not here to stomp on a villain and then demand a parade, it's only fun if we both get something good out of it! I'd also love for people to get to know Darin enough that he opens up about his past, his concerns with being a prophesied destroyer, and working through them to eventually be comfortable with who he is and maybe even look to be a better person and the hero he dreamed of being when he was a kid! Found family, mentor/student, flirty and fun, I'm open to anything so long as everyone can have a good time with it!

CHARACTER INFO

Character: Dongfang Qingcang (aka Dongfang aka Daqiang)
Canon: Episode 13, before he confronts his brother about the attempted coup

About: Daqiang is a 30,000+ years old immortal, ruler of one of the Three Realms, and literally the most powerful person his his world who could literally (and nearly did) destroy the Heavens themselves. He has an ego to match. He's actually a bit of softy, but he hasn't fully unlocked that part of himself yet because for most of his life, he was literally emotionless - his Seven Emotions Tree was killed. He has only recently begun to cover his emotions (both in canon and in game) and ends up with something of a hot and cold personality because of it. Most of the time he speaks with a near emotionless and even tone that comes across as bored because there's absolutely no emotions in it and it's how he's used to speaking. Which adds to his perception as a jerk. But also follows a strict code of honor and has shown himself to be worthy of respect through his treatment of others (shut up Ranma, you know what you did), his power, and his knowledge.

Story-wise, he fulfills the "Lord of Hell" role in what is ultimately a mix of the best of Xianxia tropes/common story elements and a Persephone Myth retelling. Yes, he is the titular Devil of Love Between Fair and Devil.

Abilities: Powers and Restrictions | Permissions

In Canon he is OP as fuck. Even toned down for the game he clocks in as one of the most powerful here in terms of individual abilities. So the important abilities to note:

He is a True Immortal in the Xianxia media sense and registers as both "hell-flavored" (or demonic) and "divine" for those who can sense that sort of thing and/or are familiar with determining what certain energy signals mean, but not evil. (In DnD terms he would ping as Lawful Neutral, but also as an Archdevil).

He controls literal Hellfire. He is one of only two beings in all the history of his world to manage to control Hellfire and as such is one of his only real points of (limited) pride in his accomplishments. The Hellfire manifests as blue fire and between this and Daqiang's affinity for fire, he is effectively immune to any fire damage. He can also control most sources of fire when in close enough proximity to them.

He has a plethora of Qi abilities common to the Xianxia genre, including Teleportation, Flight, (limited) Hammerspace, Self-Healing, and Energy-transfer.

He is trained in the use of magic (which is separate from his Qi abilities) and the In-Game Tattoo he has is aligned to fire, so most of his magic is fire-based by default.

He is also under a curse by the (eventual) love of his life that makes him suffer any wounds she suffers and she is very much not a True Immortal (though she is still Immortal) and very, very squishy. To protect himself, he must protect her.

PLANS

General: I've basically been on extended Hiatus for the last month and a half so I'm trying to ease Daqiang back into things with tag-outs. Daqiang has a top level at the Gaurda Event here where he is running himself ragged passing energy to Eltrut to help power the Bubble Shield that's stopping the Tsunami from drowning everyone (sorry new people, this happens before you get here). Otherwise I will be tagging out in the Event that just went up and getting my RP legs back under me.

Hit me up if we had plans before I went no radio contact during April so we can figure out if/when to backdate stuff or move it to the current month.

MANTA Board: ALL THE THINGS. Most of the quests look to be a lot of fun. If you want Daqiang for a quest because you think it will be a good way to meet up and/or very funny for them to fail at, please ask! Daqiang is a wonderful character to make the butt of jokes!

CR Dreams: Moar friends! Daqiang's emotions are recovering slowly and the more people he can catch feelings over - friends, enemies, accidental romantic interests (he is accidentally romantic all the time) - the better!

About: I have a full profile for her here, but the tl;dr is that she's a half-astral elf innkeeper NPC of a magical inn for adventurers that's a little bit like a jamjar but only for d&d-coded worlds. I said this on my intro comment too but think if Howl's Moving Castle was an inn with 20ish rooms and whacky travelers who like to start tavern brawls. She's stressed. She's tired. But she loves her work wholeheartedly. She comes from a long line of astral elf sorcerers but she's never been able to harness their cool space magic, alas.

But also— she was on vacation at a different game for six months and is coming in as CRAU!

Abilities: Canonically, she's like... a level 3 little guy who only knows enough hand-to-hand to defend herself (and mostly only if she is belligerently drunk). She has a few magical items with her, but they're mostly to help with everyday tasks like cleaning...

Through the tattoo, I would love for her to start developing an affinity for light elemental magic, flavored as starlight as a nod to her space elf roots. Due to her non-confrontational nature she'd likely lean towards support and healing spells, but we shall see!?

PLANS

General: Short-term, just settling in, mostly! She very pointedly lived a very non-adventurous life up until this point, so she'll need some time to adjust to, y'know, being a pirate now.

MANTA Board: As such!! She'd be interested in helping out with some of the more general MANTA quests. Would love to get her in on pretty much any of them but particularly interested in painting quest, the brussel sprout quest, maid day, and the tea quest for miss foodie here...

Event: My plan at the moment is to tag out on the event and set up an open log for general settling in and completing quests and such!

CR Dreams: I'm open to anything and everything, with the caveat that anything shippy would end in something one-sided, as Sumina is arriving with CRAU and an upgraded situationship with Gojo,, but by all means don't let that stop someone from flirting or crushing on her, unfortunately she's somewhat oblivious and friendly with everyone.

Otherwise, she would love to have friends and I personally would love CR with Paladins who might recognize she's a very Paladin-coded Corsair... she's also a good big sister type so that's an options as well! Or, y'know, bully her for being too nice as a Corsair. I'm seriously up for anything!

Unfortunately the boy is fooled by the head of the Yakuza who was also the zombie devil, killing the boy and his pet devil Pochita along with him. General: Well he's about to be officially brought into team Avalanche after his discussion with Zack about taking up the offer extended to him! +1 gremlin to the crew! Other than that Denji is currently hunting down any and all relics so that he might use their powers to resurrect an old friend from the grave and give them a newfound life here in Escordvi.

MANTA Board: So he's definitely been forced into a maid outfit after finally hearing about Naughtilust, a place catered to ones carnal desires and pleasure. (HOW HAS HE NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS PLACE YET!?)

Event: I am going to be tagging out this event! But if someone would like something specific with him I am sure I can whip up a closed starter! I'm currently in Con crunching mode as I have Anime North 2024 from May 24 to the 26th so I'm trying to get everything ready for that so I am opting to just tagging out this month instead of doing a top level.

I am especially keen to have someone join Denji in a search for the Sea Witch so that he might be able to attain a wish that could lead to his newfound goals, especially those who know Denji is searching for a means to revive his dead friend from back home.

In addition to that he may have finally figured out he has lightning abilities from his tattoo but he'll come back to that at a later date ~~once he recovers from Garudamas.~~

General: On hiatus this month so Alhaitham will be mostly chilling or rather recovering from the broken arm that Garuda is giving him in the player event. -3- But I am down for backdating things if people desire it! For context last month he blasted out a public survey about romance/love for the sake of Knowledge(TM) so if people want to get him for that I am very open to it.

MANTA Board/Event: No specific MANTA Board/event stuff for him this month as he is Recovering (and I am on hiatus) but chances are if Kaveh is somewhere doing a thing he will be hovering around with his arm in a sling + cast. :C He doesn't want to leave his senior alone... For anyone who may want a specific closed thread with him for stuff let me know and we can hash something out! Same also applies if you desire a threeway thread with him and Kaveh.

CR Dreams: Just more friends/people he's willing to converse with in general LMAO. He is very slow in opening up to anyone but just keep baiting him with more books and Kaveh approvals and he'll warm up to you. Eventually.

About: that kakashi-looking ass with the blindfold, gojo is a teacher at jujutsu tech and widely recognized as the strongest living sorcerer and he knows it. he is notorious for both his powers and his flippant, bratty attitude, and gives off the impression that he's exuberant and carefree, though he's a lot more damaged beneath it all than he lets on. he's a troublemaker by nature and loves to push people's buttons, but he's got a soft spot for kids, and ultimately just wants to make the world a better place for them. for those canon familiar, he's from chapter 236 of the manga! he also has about six months of CRAU, which hasn't changed him too much, but if he would happen to recognize anyone, i'll give you a heads up and check beforehand if that's okay!

Abilities: closes my eyes...this guy. you can read up on his abilities more in his app, but in brief he can control space and wields the power of infinity. mostly this means he does a lot of bullshit with mass and physics through attracting and repelling, and he's also untouchable most of the time. he's nerfed here compared to canon, but he's still gonna be pretty flashy about it. i don't currently have any plans to further alter his abilities through his tattoo, but there's room for that to develop in time!

General: being the way that He Is, gojo will be keen to become a captain of his own ship and will likely start attempting to recruit people he deems worth his time (or at least bullyable enough to be useful) before long. other than that, he's just gonna be acclimating to the setting and sticking his nose where it doesn't belong!

CR Dreams: i'm honestly game for anything!! he works great as a mentor for younger characters, but he's also always got some antics going on that he can easily draw other characters into. he'd enjoy tousling against different and unique power sets, and could use some friends around his age who aren't steeped in the politics of jujutsu society like he is. he's a pain in the ass so negative CR is definitely possible and welcome, too! more than likely he'll give off a negative impression when meeting someone for the first time, especially if they're an adult, but he gets better...i promise...(dubious)

About: Walter is a handful. And that's putting things lightly. He is a competitor in the blood sport the Apex Games which is basically a battle royale on which person or team can last the longest. He's just an old man who wants to prove himself and have a little bit of the limelight on him at the same time. He's got a bionic arm that helps him toss his grenades far distances as well as a giant mortar that shoots out a ring of fire. Besides all that, he's friendly and would be more than happy to kick back and share a coldie with someone after a long day.

Abilities: Fuse's abilities rely on his fighting prowess and knowledge of guns and bombs. He knows how to use bombs as well as make them. He also has some basic knowledge when it comes to maintenance for his arm and his mortar.

Haven't thought too much on his tattoo ability yet but it will likely involve more explosions. Can't have enough of those.

Miriam's a young woman who's seen and been through some shit, but hasn't lost her kindness or sense of justice. Sure, she might be full of demonic rocks, but she's using that power to do good things. She wants to be helpful and prove that she's still human, let her be helpful!!

Those roses and petals on her aren't tattoos; they're part of a cursed crystal that lets Miriam use said phenomenal demonic power, but will eventually turn her into a crystal statue and kill her, or corrupt her mind and delete her sense of self and free will. Either or. The curse's spread is currently halted, but using her power too much or absorbing too many Shards (fragments of a demon's power) at once could cause it to start advancing again. So Miriam's in a constant balancing act of needing to use her powers to best help others but not so much that she crystalizes. No pressure.

Abilities: For canon ones, she's got all the ridiculously OP abilities of an endgame Castlevania protagonist—which she's usually fairly mindful about using, with such severe consequences for their overuse. She can do so much shit, though.

PLANS

General: Though she's still on rather chilly terms with the Paladins' leadership, Miriam's helpful nature tends to lead her to volunteering herself everywhere, which would be an easy way for her to meet people. Someone to help remind her to take a break occasionally would also be welcome.

Miriam has also joined the Avalanche crew recently! She'd like to get to know the others better.

MANTA Board: As always, Miriam's available to protect squishier or noncombatant characters if they need to go someone dangerous. She has magic and a Cool Sword.

Event: I'll be putting a TL up on the Garuda event post, and tagging out on the open log.

For the former, while fighting off an Egis she'll likely absorb a Shard (tl;dr a fragment of power), which is an, uh, dramatic process where a giant crystal spike stabs her in the chest. But it's fine, It Definitely Doesn't Hurt. I'll be keeping that in a separate prompt or bringing it up in other threads by request, since it's not for everyone and probably going to raise some questions.

For the event log, Miriam will mostly be helping repair and recovery and thus could still plausibly end up anywhere, including ~~the Mermaid AU~~ Pearlhaven. She'll be a fancy crystal shark.

CR Dreams: Yes.

Actual answer: I'd love for her to make deep enough connections with people she can actually address the all the issues she's left unaddressed, from the deaths of her friends to her curse and the existential humanity questions it reflects.

For less serious matters, Miriam also hasn't used her tattoo magic much, so anyone who can offer tutelage there would be someone she'd like to talk to.

About: Proud pirate, with a big itch for adventure. Raised by pirates from a young age, and definitely has Opinions on what the ideal pirate should be. At this point, he's a successful pirate captain, with plenty of experience under his belt, and various feats that have given him a solid reputation back home. Despite all that though, he's a generally friendly person, easy to approach. A bit of a nerd when it comes to sailing, but always down to hear stories and myths and legends that he can then go on to prove true or false.

Abilities: Check the app, but the simplest explanation is that he has super moves and he has moon magic. Super moves are basically unique abilities that can have whatever properties the game decides, and moon magic is elemental magic drawn from the moons back home. Here, he keeps his super moves, but his moon magic has been cut off and he'll have to relearn it through his tattoo and with his moonstones. Probably also gonna strip the more supernatural elements from his super moves, so he has to relearn anything magic-related. (Meaning Rain of Swords isn't gonna rain down lightning, but maybe he'll rain down actual swords, idk.)

General: Long term? I want Vyse to start his own crew and get his hands on an airship. Not that he couldn't sail on a regular ship, but if ANYONE is gonna be the first to sail the skies here, it'll be Vyse. I haven't figured out what exactly I want to do with him in the short term, but I do know that taking him from post-game means he won't have anything tying him up back home. And exploring a different world altogether would definitely be a major goal for him.

About: Born a princess, lost at sea, raised as a pirate man, Faris became the youngest-ever captain after befriending the sea dragon Syldra. Then a princess and her two goofy friends tried to steal his ship, a shattered crystal picked him as one of its champions, and they all proceeded to do... a really, really bad job of protecting the crystals. But they got there in the end!!

As a person, Faris is really bad at emotions that are not directly related to being a pirate. He's gotten a little better at it, but his expressions of sentiment are still indirect and plausibly deniable, to say the least. It's easier to get close to him by doing some kind of mission or battle together.

Abilities: Faris is from a game with the POWER OF DRESSING UP but his primary abilities are thievery/sneakery, dragooning (jump up HIGH and land HARD), and cannoneer (tiny hammerspace cannon).
