SNAIL WITH ME: APRIL 2024

An abbreviated version of our CR Workship! Same concept, just a lot smaller. If you have multiple characters, make an individual toplevel for yourself with your player info and comment to it with each character separately.

We also include a designated toplevel for Crew Recruitment where players can make OOC ad posts for others to either join or request to join or make a crew. This is all for OOC coordination, so you'll have to figure out how it works ICly.

Canon: Octopath Traveler - post-personal journeys but pre-Secret Final Boss.
Armada: Paladin

About: Alfyn is a friendly and good-natured apothecary who has traveled all over the continent (at home) in pursuit of helping as many people as he can with his skills! He has a soft heart and will only charge his patients what they can afford - even if that means the care is free. He looks a little scruffy (he's told) and comes across as cheerful and a bit back-country. He is always set to the "help out" notch on the dial.

PLANS

General:
A couple things have really come to mind!

1. Alfyn ought to have a crew. He's used to traveling in his band of misfits group of friends at home and while he's been fine in this world kind of traversing and learning alone, I think the nature of the game is such that he ought to have A Squad. Of some kind. Bonus free patching-up and general good cheer for your crew if he's in it! (These things are already free for everyone. Shh.)

2. I've sort of been running the program in the background that Alfyn's found ways to learn about the local plants and some basic medicine-mixing knowledge for this world, so he'll be a lot more confident now about gathering and using what's in the world for his work! On that front, he'd enjoy kicking back and talking about things like that with any characters who do know more, and I'd feel less "oh no is this ok to just presume" if he actually got to Vibe About Medicine aloud with someone or two!

3. Please teach this man how to use a shellphone.

MANTA Board:
Alfyn would be especially interested in:

- Potion Permit: This is right up his alley and he'd be familiar with this as a process, and interested in the effects and how to treat them if that becomes necessary. He would probably not take a sample for himself if told not to directly, but could be convinced of the merit of keeping some just in case.
- Elemental Energy Survey: Seems simple enough, and easy to do while he's out picking herbs or otherwise exploring! Would be a chill and friendly thread as well, I suspect. Good time touching grass and watching butterflies.
- The Haunting of Forgotten Cay: Alfyn has a strong stomach and isn't afraid of a ghost! (Well. Okay. He is afraid. But he has a lot of practice at shoving fear down to get the job done!) And he wouldn't want anyone to wind up getting hurt with no help, so if he can find an avenue into doing this along with others, he will take it.

Event:
At the moment I fully intend to top-level in the event! My boy needs more friends. What better way to make friends than to help them on their adventures? It's the Octopath Traveler way!

- Alfyn enjoys fishing so he'll be thrilled to do so for a big feast, and he's sentimental about picking up shells and will take to that with so much genuine enthusiasm.
- Saving turtles is also right within his wheelhouse, let's get them safely to the sea!
- And of course, he's just fine in a fight - his apothecary skills can be played in attack mode.

Etc.:
I'm definitely open to other suggestions! Also struggling a bit with the...geography? The "which location is where" regarding [things in places in the ocean] and [things in places on each levisland], so figuring out if and when Alfyn could conceivably be in a place has been tough. If the answer is "you are thinking too hard about it, just go do the thing," what a lovely answer that will be!

Not a lot of memes in the world for Octopath. So sad. Perhaps I'll have to make some.

HONESTLY it's pretty great, it keeps fyodor coming back like ?????? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS BOY??? and it's season for hilarious shenanigans. i love him being a macmurder muffin but he's very trolly too so i love playing around with that to force him to interact with others
