UPCOMING APP CYCLE
As players may have noticed, we were cutting it really close for open slots during reserves, and in fact Laena had "artificially" raised the reserve cap by five to adjust for drops from this past AC. And apparently she lucked out in the math because as it stands, if everyone apps in and is accepted, we will be right near cap. So what does that mean for the next app cycle? That will depend on how many slots there are and this is how it will be. If open slots are:
5 or less (cap at 60): Our applications will be closed and will not reopen until July. Current players can still apply for additional characters.
At least 10 (cap at 55): Applications will be open in May but will be limited to player invites only. Direct mod invite requests will not be open.
At least 20 (cap at 45): Applications will be open in May and direct invite requests will be open.
We'll use this standard for all future app cycles.

EXTRA NOTES
Just a quick note before we recap some of the submissions and quest summaries! We want to highlight that players are welcome at any time to sign their character up to become a random bounty. You can come up with whatever reason, or if you need us to we can create some story even if it's completely false. You would just need to provide us with whatever limitations and how you'd like for it to go down. To help start us off, Laena and CS will have both of their characters up on the board for April so players can get an idea of what to expect. But in the meantime, you are welcome to volunteer your character for future months. You just have to make the request on your AC submission under the MANTA Board field.
» Sleeping Curse. Thanks to the efforts of everyone searching for a variety of cures, the sleeping curse is no longer running rampant and those afflicted are able to be treated and completely cured. Cases might still arise here and there, but they'll be much more manageable in the future.
» Fire Horse. Thanks to everyone's hard work, in particular to Emet-Selch's group, the fire horse has been freed from the confines of the summon ritual and has returned to where it belongs—wherever that may be. How the ritual came to be and who did it is still a mystery, but there are signs that it may be related to the ghost ship incident during the past Ghoul's Moon.
» Price of Freedom Paid. It took several attempts due to an unusual relic that prevented him from dying, but the slaver behind the seamstress's plight has finally met his end at the hands of Benedikta Harman.
» Dragon Relations. Overall, the dragons are pleased with the interactions they had with the riftfarers, whether that's helping with their courtship or spring cleaning, sharing stories and architecture theories and boxing demonstrations, or flying with them through the skies. (Well, save for one young lightning dragon, but everyone agrees he's a bit of a jerk.) The information exchange also helped in finding cures for the sleeping curse.
» Bite-Sized Blessings. The baby pink dragon had a wonderful time with everyone on her multitude of dates. She was spoiled rotten- as she deserves- and will cherish these memories forever.
» Spelling Me Softly. The polymorph spell has enough data to be calibrated properly, and one forest now has a sheep-shaped boulder punted into it as a new landmark. Leviathans help us all.
» Who Let the Dogs Out Eustace and Rin somehow managed not only to steal the lord's artifacts and schematics, but the guard dogs themselves. The lord will remember this…

OF TRUTH AND LIES
Exciting news will arrive from a group of old riftfarers who have been searching for the past few years of any clue that could be related to the rifts, and they have found an ancient leviathan that calls itself Norhpip. It's a giant hermit crab, its shell a towering, rocky mountain while its main body hides within and beneath shallow water. However, it's far too large and expansive for them to try and explore on their own, so they send out a call for any who are brave enough to face the threats and dangers.
The discovery of the leviathan will occur around mid-month, and it could take days, possibly weeks for those brave enough to explore it. Fortunately, the leviathan doesn't seem to show any inclination of moving, so people can take their time, but it may eventually find all these people crawling all over its shell uncomfortable…
» Something in the air. The moment one steps onto the leviathan, they will feel either one of two things: an ominous sense of dread and unease, or an intense belief of hope and determination. Sometimes this feeling will switch around, but it will be one or the other with varying degrees of intensity. One will make people more distrustful and suspicious of others, making it more likely that they will try to do things on their own than work with others. There's a higher chance to betray and lie. The other will make people more trusting and believing of others, making it more likely they will follow whatever they hear no matter how ridiculous it may sound. There's a higher chance they will only tell the truth, regardless if it's a good idea or not.
» Crabby guides. The leviathan is not without its own people, and in this case they are little crabs who either seriously regard them all as intruders, or are super benevolent and will happily show them around. Which type anyone runs into is random and it's not unusual to find a pair of both always squabbling and bickering at their differences. Regardless, they will at least learn a few things about the leviathan and what is around, so they won't be going in completely blind. However, the crabs will place heavy warnings about the traps and challenges that cover the leviathan's shell, saying that many meet their ends not because of the challenges, but because of each other.
» Series of challenges. As adventurers explore, they will be faced with a number of challenges that will impede their progress. Only by successfully achieving the objective will allow them to continue, though each one may strain the relationship of who they are with. Here is just a brief list of categories to expect:
» Crab rolls. Perhaps pitying the explorers, occasionally the little crabs will appear and offer to "relieve their mind" of whatever effect is currently influencing them most. However…is this also a test? Should they trust the crab? Roll a 10 sided die to determine how the crabs help you. If it's 6 or higher, the crabs will offer a friendship bracelet woven from colorful grasses to clear the enchantment; 5 or below, they get a big pinch that… somehow also helps, but not quite as well as the bracelet.
» Relic hunting. There are fragments of a larger relic scattered all over, and the more pieces collected the more likely it can be reassembled. Is it important to the rifts? Only one way to find out.
» Corsair vs. Paladin. It's only natural that trust between the two armadas will be stretched thin, and likewise unusual if questionable alliances may be formed. This will only be worsened by the unusual atmosphere that covers the leviathan, so be careful!
