ACTIVITY CHECK: August 2024

Ahoy, mateys! Here be the monthly Activity Check!

In the Extra Notes section, please note the following, as well as anything else worth noting:

• Who helped the moogles
  
• Who helped the Glitzens
  
• Who took care of the Astares jewel issues
  
• Anyone who assisted the whales
  
• Any findings from the special investigations quest

Please check our Activity Check guidelines on our Game Info page for complete details, but here is the quick list of what you need to know:

» Only threads dated from August 1st through August 31st count towards the month's activity. (With the exception of certain backdated threads, read the linked AC guidelines for more details.)

» Activity requires one thread of at least 5 comments. The comment count is from your character.

» Any thread counts, including those made within your own entries and subthreads within your own toplevels. Individual entry posts do not count, only the threads within the posts. TDM threads with non-game characters will count.

» Continuation threads are considered as part of the previous thread so they count as one thread not two. For the sake of ease, we would like the two threads linked together.

» You are exempt from any checks for hiatuses that last for over 21 days. Anything less and you'll still need to submit your AC unless there are other circumstances.

» Because we are a capped game, there is no strike system. If you do not make the AC requirements, you will be cut.

» Bonus AC points: All extra non-quest threads not used for AC will be worth 2 extra points that can be used for reward redemption. Please check our Rewards page for more details.

There will be no warnings. All submissions are due Saturday, August 31st 11:59PM US Eastern.

EXTRA FIELDS: This is not required and completely optional, but included in the submission form are two optional fields: Extra and MANTA Board Posting.

For the Extra field, this is just a space for players to note anything that occurred in their threads that they think might be fun for us to know. So if something particularly interesting happened (for example: discovering a new creature or location, an old artifact, or perhaps a character has stolen something), we highly encourage players to jot them down! Who knows, we may even find a use for it… In addition, we may ask players to submit certain activity related to an event.

You may also submit MANTA board requests to be included in the upcoming board. We will try to add them immediately, otherwise we'll save them for the next Board or a time we deem fitting. If you don't have one in mind at the time of AC, you can post it later to the upcoming Captain's Log announcement.

Extra: Kaveh did his best to help the Moogles and the Glitzens! In particular, he gathered up quite a few feathers to help return to them, and...mostly...behaved himself in the Casino. The moogles saw a lot more of Kaveh because they kidnapped him, and Kaveh built and designed them as many houses as he could lay hands on, and attempted to sway their aesthetic senses.

He also helped plant kupo nuts and possibly gave the moogles a lesson in human courtship on accident. Don't worry about that.

He has one thread assisting the whales that is still ongoing!

MANTA Board Posting: Bunny and Hawk: An anonymous coalition of gamblers on Astares have placed a bounty on an eagle-eyed card sharp and his bunny, demanding their capture and compensation for cheating at the card tables. The pair are described as a silver-haired man with sharp eyes and a beautiful long-legged blonde who definitely hexed them, so tread with caution! Or laugh at them REALLY hard.

Extra: Helped the moogles with Kaveh, mostly in terms of manual labor (field tilling and house building) but also may have shown them a lesson in human courtship, whoops. Also made a killing on the poker tables in Astares by linefacing his way to victory. The other patrons there may or may not be displeased.

No special investigation stuff because I totally died on doing actual worldbuilding stuff but it probably happened... I'll have to figure that out hopefully next month if its still available OTL

Emet-Selch | Final Fantasy XIV

- Emet-Selch has been trying to educate himself on other worlds' technologies so that he can better adapt developing technologies to the magitech of this world. On his plate: designing some kind of television, personal motorised vehicles, and other small home conveniences (nothing terribly complex yet).
- He helped Aerith clean the muck off the underwater temple walls

MANTA Board Posting: Adamantine Forge: Engine Prototype
After two months of hard work, it's time to finally start work on the engine prototype! Workers and visitors to the Forge will see an old ship sitting on the ramp outside now, being retrofitted to hold a prototype of the magitech engine Emet-Selch's schematics detail. Whether it sinks or swims is dependent on the efforts of those working on it. If all goes well, perhaps a wealthy investor can be convinced to fund the building of a proper ship...

Extra: Ganondorf's activity this month was primarily related to the Megamaki madness. After dealing with the invaders, the Desert Wind more or less limped to the Nogard where it's in drydock for repairs. He's reached out to Reno re; some antimagic materials that can be used to reinforce the ship [which I figure would be achieved via spending reward points; possibly same price as the Scales of the Dragon Turtle?] as well as sending Reaper to investigate Darin while he preps to use a Puppet Ramna to start causing escalating amounts of mischief.

Rumors are spreading about a youth harassing the docks of Eltrut, specifically the merchants ships. While they aren't directly aggressive, their idea of pranks and mischief seem to involve no small amount of spoiled cargo, ship damage, and plenty of bumps and bruises for the crews! The single identifying feature everyone can agree on is a short ponytail, but other than that and general build, reports are torn between black or red hair, or even whether they're a girl or a boy...!

Extra: Chris and Darin have invented a toaster oven! The original design used a mini generator they'd made as a way of testing various ways of generating power for the Adamantine Forge attached to a box with some heat elements, but they've been discussing a more refined model and have come up with this.

Would it be possible for this to be offered as an item for point purchase, with credit to the two of them?

• Moogles: He helped with some of the building developments including helping lay out irrigation systems and forges, installing useful appliances, and creating small toys for the little moogles
  
• Special Investigations: He worked with Aerith and developed a device that would pulse lightning and light magic to consistently clear the black goop so that people won't have to exhaust themselves using magic all the time. He's still making modifications, but it's a start!

Because of his tinkering with various things lately he's going to drop another "prototype test" posting on the MANTA Board.

• Moogles: cleared out some of the monsters, find flowers for ladybugs, did supply runs
  
• Glitzens: captured one moogle
  
• Astares: helped catch thieves and retrieve stolen jewels; freed animals encased in jewels
  
• Whales: helped investigate
  
• Special Investigations: used his lightning magic to clear out some goop

In the process of helping Astares, Eustace discovered a ring that traps animals in Astare's suction cups to encase them in the stone.

MANTA Board Posting: EITHER THIS MONTH OR NEXT MONTH could do something about the ring Eustace uncovered. Something about there's a growing black market of people who trap living creatures (animals and people including animalfolk and humans) in crystal or gemstone. Some manage to make it so the occupants remain alive, others are completely frozen and whether they are alive or not...well. It's definitely something that should be looked into and shut down, especially when they try to use Astares.

Extra: G'raha this month assisted with the black oozy ooze. Aerith suggested taking video/photo with the shellphones so he will be studying the images and the like trying to make heads or tails of what is on the walls. He additionally helped the Moogles and Fae. G'raha received a canon update!

Extra: Cloud assisted with the cannibal sheep and the creepy Moogle that was too tall and skinny to be a Moogle. Made a suggestion to Emet-Selch about the engine so he's continuing to work on that ask well.
