Character: Agatha of the Woods Beyond (or just Agatha tbqh) Canon: Post Series Book 2: A World Without Princes Armada: Paladin
About: So The School for Good and Evil is a riff on the tropes of fairy tales as well as a story about the idea of what is good and evil not being so clear cut. Case in point -- Agatha here.
Agatha is dark haired, dark eyed, pale skinned and back in her home town of Gavaldon she was considered a witch alongside her healer mother Callis. Imagine her surprise when she was kidnapped (it's a regular every four year thing in Gavaldon, seriously) alongside her best friend and princess wannabe Sophie and they both were taken to the School for Good and Evil only for Agatha to be dropped on the Good side!
It turns out though Agatha is a lot more good and purehearted than she gives herself credit for in the beginning and has only begun to really accept in the second book. Agatha is the level-headed friend, craving acceptance and friends but hiding it under layers of sarcasm and morbid amusements. She starts out as a girl living in a graveyard in the first book, taking delight in gallows' humor and loving her clumps (basically thick-soled boots). None of that really changes but Agatha learns how to let out that side of her that cares about other people, that has a deep empathy for the plight of others and tries to see beyond people's actions to their intentions. The Schools themselves drive her crazy for so many of their messages -- that someone has to be wholly Good or Evil, that to be Good is to be pretty (how shallow), that princes rescue princesses and so on.
Abilities: I'm ripping this right from her app (which was ripped from her info so).
ATMOKINESIS -- Weather spells are something Agatha finds easy and natural to control. She knows spells that cause the sky to darken, clouds to form and create things out of wind. One such spell is the Lights-Out Jinx that causes the sky overhead and the area to go pitch-black -- any lights are snuffed out including the sun or moon.
ANTHOKINESIS -- Agatha's favorite trick seems to be transforming flying weapons into flowers as well as using roots and vines to trap enemies. She also uses specific spells to turn into a tulip and a pine shrub.
ENERGY PROJECTION -- Agatha can shoot beams of golden energy from her finger.
FINGERGLOW -- Before students go through the Trial by Tale as part of their schooling their fingerglow will be unlocked. This allows the students to learn how to summon enough emotion and purpose to cast a spell and use their magic. One can use magic without a fingerglow and most might consider it childish to still have their fingerglow once they have a better control over their magic. The color of the glow can run in families or sometimes true loves such as Agatha and Tedros might have the same fingerglow.
MAGICAL MASTERY -- Agatha finds most magical spells easy to master and use. In particular she finds atmokinesis, anthokinesis and mogrification as simple to do. She excels in evil and good magic alike. She'll likely pick up a few spells fairly easily in Escord over time.
MOGRIFICATION -- Agatha is particularly good at shapeshifting, able to turn into any number of creatures. Generally chooses to use birds and bugs given a preference for flight and stealth. Generally she shifts into either a dove for flying or a cockroach for sneaking around.
WISH GRANTING -- Most Evers (those in the School for Good) and Nevers (those in the School for Evil) have a talent whether minor or major. Agatha's talent is one of the rarest due to how good her soul is. Rather than having her wishes granted for her like most princesses she ends up granting other's wishes. In canon she's never shown granting big wishes like returning people home or to other locations. This is extremely energy intensive so she can't do this often and in Escordvi she can't grant wishes that would take anyone out of the world (even if she could in canon).
Outside of this ... I'm not sure what I have in mind for the tattoo. Maybe more offensive type abilities? She does a lot with weather elements in canon as well as dark spells. Maybe something with fire or light?
PLANS
General: I'm playing it by ear. At her point in canon Agatha is still unsure of herself, constantly second guessing her ideas. As the series goes on she apparently grows more sure of herself (I've only got past the second book, hence the canon point) so I'm happy to play that out here before I eventually canon update her.
MANTA Board: My god, the moogles. I really dig the Paladin quests "The Moogle's Cut" and "Shine Bright Like A Diamond". I dig the Special Investigation too, Agatha enjoys learning and is pretty sharp when it comes to figuring things out. Any of the general ones sound cute -- in canon Agatha has a hairless cat named Reaper (she lived in a graveyard remember, lol) and I'd go for one of the cats buuut Maria had one.
Event: I'll probably top level and tag out. I dig the idea of exploring the abyss! No real hard set plans though.
CR Dreams: Folks to go exploring with, folks to learn with -- y'know, friends. In canon Agatha is only now really getting into the making friends with people other than Sophie thing. Also she supposedly left at the end of Book 2 with her prince and "one true love".
